" I listen to an audio book for a half hour every night with my 11 year old son before bed. The Rangers Apprentice series by John Flanagan and his Brotherband Series are his and my favorite books. I like it because of no bad language, no magic, and good life lessons, good humor. Yet there is plenty of thrilling excitement. We have listened to every book in both series and they are our favorites. "
— its_bill3@yahoo.com, 4/29/2020" Best book ever love it "
— Taj thorne, 6/8/2019" This book has exciting edge to keep the reader guessing. "
— Christa, 2/14/2014" Series is a little predictable but they make my cardio more enjoyable. "
— Adam, 2/14/2014" I just adore this series... "
— Luisa, 2/6/2014" I love the wit that the characters display. The interactions between the characters are also really great. I think it is amazing that when so many other series have started to lose their edge this one is still going strong. This was a great read. These guys sure know how to find trouble and then extricate themselves from it. I would definitely recommend this series for boys since they would love all the adventures. "
— ephrielle, 1/30/2014" Not as good as the rest of the series, but still entertaining and fun. "
— Allie, 1/18/2014" Not my favorite of the series. I never like it when it is a continuation of chasing the same bad guy. "
— Stacey, 1/15/2014" I liked this one. I thought it was better than the last; felt fresher to me. Of course, the author has his formula, but I enjoy it! "
— Kari, 1/7/2014" The main story was nice as ever, but Will and Halt made some very stupid mistakes that even I could foresee. I think it goes again the original purpose of telling us again and again that Rangers are invincible. "
— Anh, 12/26/2013" I loved this book! I thought it was thrilling and suspensful. Throughout most of the book I thought Halt was going to die. Then (should have seen this coming) Will saved the day. This is definately one of my favorites in this series! "
— Brendan, 12/12/2013" These books get better and better. I liked it a lot. "
— Lindsay, 12/6/2013" Schitterend (ik val in herhaling is het niet?) Deze keer heb ik zelfs een traantje moeten wegpinken. "
— Wendy, 11/29/2013" I've memorized all the other ones!! Comes out October4/5( cant remember which!) "
— Zoe, 10/18/2013" One of the best Ranger books ever! "
— Em7ar7, 5/27/2013" This book was my absolute favorite! I loved how it kept you going and guessing! This was definitely John Flanagan's best book that I've read so far! "
— Kenzie, 3/26/2013" This book was a much better book than number 8. It was very intense and you never get bored. Unlike the last one I couldn't put it down. "
— JJ, 2/12/2013" I like the book and the part that Malcolm comes back. "
— Matthew, 2/11/2013" I have read and enjoyed all the books of the ranger's apprentice and the brothers band. I also, enjoy John Keating as the narrator. I read the books on my e-reader and then bought them all in paper back and now on audiobooks. This book is very well written book that sucks you and makes you want to know what is going to happen. "
— Nathaniel Von Allmen, 9/3/2012" it was wonderfull read! the author hit the nail on the head with this one! "
— Bookus, 7/29/2012" Great! Very suspenseful! I can't wait for the next book, and final, book! "
— Campbell, 5/4/2012" This book was cool. Sadly Halt nearly died but it's great that he survived. Alright Halt!!!!!!!!!! "
— Lightningstorm9, 12/22/2011" Not my favorite, but still good. Flanagan should really have included a map. "
— Kelly, 11/16/2011" Amazing how he could make an interesting story about one particular incident over a very short period of time. "
— Karen, 10/28/2011" The Ranger's Apprentice Series is my second favorite series of all time. The first 6 books are simply FANTASTIC and the rest of them are also VERY enjoyable. "
— Matthew, 8/10/2011" This had a couple of twists that I really enjoyed. "
— Kristine, 5/16/2011" One of the best Ranger books ever! "
— Em7ar7, 5/5/2011" Slow going but it's a fantastic book with two problems so I loved it "
— No, 4/30/2011" Flanagan continues to please. Was not as happy with the twin plot twist, but it was handled well enough that you accept it, rather than discounting it as a plot device. "
— Marilyn, 4/27/2011" We all knew what was gonna' happen. Halt is just too cool to die. "
— Kirin, 4/23/2011" This one wasn't as exciting as some of the others, but I still liked it. "
— Maree, 4/12/2011" Not as good as the rest of the series, but still entertaining and fun. "
— Allie, 4/11/2011" Can't believe that this is book 10, and I am still enjoying the series so much. A very fun, fast paced series to read. "
— Mary, 4/9/2011" decent, but it feels like a rambling on of a story that has been written into the ground and resurrected many times. It also seems like i've read it before, because it's so similar to the other books in the series. "
— ApOpHiS, 4/5/2011John A. Flanagan grew up in Sydney, Australia hoping to be a writer. It wasn’t until he wrote a highly uncomplimentary poem about a senior executive at the agency he worked, however, that his talent was revealed. It turned out one of the company directors agreed with John’s assessment of the executive, and happily agreed to train John in copywriting. After writing advertising copy for the next two decades, John teamed with an old friend to develop a television sitcom, Hey Dad!, which went on to air for eight years. John began writing the Ranger’s Apprentice series as a way to encourage his son, Michael, to enjoy reading. He currently lives in the suburb of Manly, Australia, with his wife.
John Keating is an actor, voice talent, and AudioFile Earphones Award–winning narrator. His numerous acting credits include Roundabout Theatre’s production of Juno and the Paycock and La Mama ETC’s production of Cat and the Moon, as well as various parts with the Irish Repertory Theater and the Irish Arts Center. He can also be seen in the HBO miniseries John Adams, starring Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney.
