"During this book the chapters would switch off from one character to another. The autor did a good job of that because then when something exciting is about to happen.... it is another chapter, with the other characters. So I have to read on to find out what will happen."
— Olivia (5 out of 5 stars)
" Was a little disappointed in this one. It seemed to be a filler book with no real resolution to anything. "
— Danny, 2/19/2014" audiobook. very good..ready for the next one! "
— Mandy, 2/15/2014" Very good. His style of writing is kind of weird though. There's a problem and as soon as the character overcomes that problem the books shuddering to jerking halt. Then you start the next book and does it again. However they are very good. "
— Brittany, 2/10/2014" not as good as the first two. "

— Rose, 2/1/2013" Wow. This series just keeps getting better and better. The plot is consistent from book to book. The characters experience real situations in their personal growth and the writing is very strong. The vocabulary is excellent. Impressed with Flanagan. "
— Wanda, 10/24/2012" I'll be interested to see if the next 8 books progress the plot any faster than this one. My goodness - forced myself to sit down and finish it simply to say it's done. "
— Heather, 5/30/2012" This series just keeps getting better. "
— Tara, 3/10/2012" It took me a little while to get into this book. I liked the chapters on Will & Evanlyn, but the ones on Halt were a little boring. The story really picked up at the end. He really likes to hit you hard with the cliffhangers at the end of the story. "
— Jocelin, 12/16/2011" possibly the less active so far, but is the story of escape and how bad captivity can really be... or what it used to be "
— Kyle, 11/7/2011" I still think the first one is the best. Although, this one is really intense, I liked it. It kept you on the edge of your seat...well, it did for me!! "
— Robyn, 10/22/2011" Once again, Flanagan has told the story masterfully. I would love to say more, but then I would spoil the book. "

— Wendy, 5/21/2011" This was a little different from the first two but just as good. I had a hard time jumping from one group to the other but that seems to be my problem--not the authors. "
— Kristine, 5/16/2011" Get Series, lots of adventure! never a dull moment. This is a must read series!! "
— Heather, 5/12/2011" It would be perfect but it needs to have the sequel read to get that as well
Plus i hate it when they downgrade the main character
Stupid warmweed "
— Megan, 5/9/2011" the book is too good to give 2 stars, but it was on the shallow end of 3 for me. But if you like tales of hardship or inprisonment, then you may enjoy this. Of course, the Flanagan battles never disappoint. "

— Russell, 4/8/2011John A. Flanagan grew up in Sydney, Australia hoping to be a writer. It wasn’t until he wrote a highly uncomplimentary poem about a senior executive at the agency he worked, however, that his talent was revealed. It turned out one of the company directors agreed with John’s assessment of the executive, and happily agreed to train John in copywriting. After writing advertising copy for the next two decades, John teamed with an old friend to develop a television sitcom, Hey Dad!, which went on to air for eight years. John began writing the Ranger’s Apprentice series as a way to encourage his son, Michael, to enjoy reading. He currently lives in the suburb of Manly, Australia, with his wife.
John Keating is an actor, voice talent, and AudioFile Earphones Award–winning narrator. His numerous acting credits include Roundabout Theatre’s production of Juno and the Paycock and La Mama ETC’s production of Cat and the Moon, as well as various parts with the Irish Repertory Theater and the Irish Arts Center. He can also be seen in the HBO miniseries John Adams, starring Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney.
