Publisher Description

A chilly reception.... Caterer Goldy Schulz has been hired to host a hockey party. But the proceedings won't be all fun and games. Unfortunately, her client won't be satisfied until Goldy adds a hefty serving of revenge. An ex-husband from hell.... Patricia McCracken is certain that her obstetrician and her penny-pinching HMO are responsible for the loss of her baby. Now she is suing both, and she wants Goldy's advice on coming out on top. For Dr. John Richard Korman, aka the Jerk, is none other than Goldy's abusive ex-husband. Goldy knows all about John Richard's secret life--but even she is shocked when he's arrested for the murder of his latest girlfriend. A dish best served cold.... As much as Goldy would like to see her ex get his just desserts, could he really be a killer? Soon she will find herself sifting through a spicy mix of sizzling gossip for clues to a mystery that threatens her catering deadline, her relationship with her son and new husband... and even her life.

"I'll spare you the list of her other six mysteries I've read, but they are very enjoyable. Pretty light. The sleuth is a caterer in Colorado, so you get mouthwatering descriptions of her creations (with recipes included) and descriptions of the Rockies. Some of my favorite escapist reading."

" These books, murder mysteries starring caterer Goldy Schulz, are enjoyable fluff stories complete with delicious sounding recipes (as long as you eat gluten, sugar, dairy and treif). If I ate as much as Goldy I would be a very large woman, but maybe if I worked as much and as slept as little as Goldy I would burn all the calories off. In this story Goldy's abusive x-husband is accused of murder. We know he isn't a nice guy but did he commit murder? The only thing that bugged me about this book is that Goldy constantly refers to x-husband as "the jerk". I find that annoying and wish she would just call him by his name. "

" I think my least favorite of the Goldie Bear series. Really really loath her ex and this storyline just bugged me. Other than that good read. "

" This is the third book by Diane Mott Davidson that I have read and it was better then the first two. A little hard getting started but held my interest for the last 150 pages of this 259 page book. I have several more books by this author I plan on reading. "

" The jerk is back and accused of murder. Goldy helps Arch and finds the real killer. But the jerk gets what he deserves for hurting her. Love the characters Goldy, Arch, Tom, and Marla. Like this series as much as the Janet Evanovich series with Stephanie Plum. "

" I nice light murder mystery. The amateur sleuth in this series is a caterer, so you get yummy recipes along with the mayhem. The author also juggles the issues of spouse abuse, and, in this story, health-care fraud. "

" Engaging mysteries, and fun recipes! The only thing I don't like about these books are her relationship with her son, and the fact that characters who are considered "good friends" seem to appear and disappear at random! Otherwise I recommend them, they definitely suck you in. "

" The Grilling Season is a "culinary sleuth" genre mystery. It's a good story, but since the victim and none of the potential suspects are particularly likable, it's actually a bit disappointing when the field is ultimately narrowed down and the culprit is brought to justice. "
