"Actually, picked up the "Completely Fantastical" edition (all five books in one hardcover, with bonus chapters and artwork). I thought I'd read it before I give it to my 9-year-old niece. The entire series was great fun (I would have loved it at her age) and well written. "

" I read this to my son. He enjoyed it thoroughly. I think this is a good read for children 3-5th grade as it as a lot of vocabulary children can learn. It is the right length for this age group also. "
— H.H., 2/16/2014" I wasn't very impressed with this book. Maybe I need to read the others before I judge. But the writing seemed to get away from the author, as if she was inserting little details at the last minute rather than revising them into the story line where they belonged. But I loved the illustrations, and I'll read a few more to give them another chance. "
— Sunny, 2/6/2014" Cute stories, but won't recommend to others. The kids are too snotty for my taste. "
— Alysnyder, 2/1/2014" This series is great I've read all five books and hope the auther makes more! "
— Sophie, 1/27/2014" they are all really good (i mean the spiderwick chronicles) and they're really well written considering they're for like ten year olds. "

— Stormcloud, 1/15/2014" I enjoyed this book because it has a lot of mysteries and makes you want to read more. The story at first was very interesting and as the story progresses it gets even more interesting becasue strange things happen to the Grace children. "
— Taro, 1/5/2014" We listened to the book on CD while driving through Wyoming. Charming. "

— Joani, 9/8/2013" The book was well written, and the only complaint that I can think of that it was TOO SHORT. "
— Angelia, 6/15/2013" I really love the illustrations in this series! "
— Rainey, 5/2/2013" Get the magic and intrigue of it, but juvenile fiction always seems really choppy to me. "
— Tamara, 3/19/2013" I don't know why we haven't read this till now, my kids haven't shown any interest in fantasy I suppose, however my 9 year old read this in one sitting and loved it. He even took it to school today, looks like we have a new series to follow :) "
— Annemarie, 8/14/2012" so far so spiderwick!!! "
— Trey1437, 7/1/2012" Nice book for younger readers. I finished it in probably a little over an hour. My 8 year old is reading it and he seems to like it. "

— Kaylah, 9/9/2011" I wish Holly Black would go back and do some more stuff like this. "
— Kellie, 5/13/2011" Maybe better reading to get the illustrations? I listened to books 1 & 2 (and 3? can't even remember now) to get the feel. Fine enough and kind of fun because they're short. Mark Hamill is a fine narrator, actually. "
— Genevieve, 5/10/2011" A quick family-fun book on tape for our road trip. "
— Scottandsasha, 5/6/2011" Goodbooks. Not to long fun easy read. "
— Amanda, 4/29/2011" Better to read all the books at once (like in one volume) than one at a time; that way they don't seem so short and rushed. Made me enjoy them much more. "
— Nicole, 4/8/2011" these were very quick. i think a child 2nd grade and up could read these. the movie follows the books fairly closely. "
— Ruth, 4/8/2011" A light, but enoyable read. "
— Selina, 3/20/2011" Really fun romp through faerie. Warning that the first book is a bit terrifying (the illustrations of a doll's head in the wall and Mallory's hair tied to her headboard, particularly)...but it didn't stop me. The books are short, quick reads with lots of gorgeous illustrations. "
— Ali, 3/17/2011" i just loved this whole series. these books i read in like 20 min. to an hour when i was in 4th gradde. i recommend it <br/> "

— AnNa, 2/22/2011" The series is very interesting. The whole series is fantasy full of trolls fairies and other magical creatures. "
