Curses and Cons. Magic and the Mob. Cassel always thought he was an ordinary guy, until he realized his memories were being manipulated by his brothers. Now he knows the truth—he’s the most powerful curse worker around. A touch of his hand can transform anything—or anyone—into something else. That was how Lila, the girl he loved, became a white cat. Cassel was tricked into thinking he killed her, when actually he tried to save her. Now that she’s human again, he should be overjoyed. Trouble is, Lila’s been cursed to love him. And if Lila’s love is as phony as Cassel’s made-up memories, then he can’t believe anything she says or does. When Cassel’s oldest brother is murdered, the Feds recruit Cassel to help make sense of the only clue—crime-scene images of a woman in red gloves. But the mob is after Cassel too—they know how valuable he could be to them. Cassel is going to have to stay one step ahead of both sides just to survive.

"Awesome. Red Glove builds Cassel's story nicely, the good kid born into a crime family. Only, he's not so sure he wants to be good anymore. However, my favorite parts of the book are his roommate Same - anyone who can make fake blood with ketchup & Worcestershire sauce is cool with me. "

" Enjoyed this book much better than the first book, the story flowed well and I am looking forward to the third book coming out as an ebook "
— Katherine, 1/13/2014" Cassel gets into further magic-related trouble; this one's pretty much all about his allegiances, and also adds another nice mystery plot into the mix. Plus worker oppression. Oh, and some teenage angst. There's a lot going on, and it's just as solid as the first book. I continue to be very impressed. "
— Sineala, 1/11/2014" Liked it much better than the first because I actually understood what was going on from the beginning of the book. A tad predictable but I still liked it!!! Moving on to the 3rd! "

— Ed, 5/23/2011" The sequel lives up to the first book. Another stay-up-late read. I wish more people would read it so I could talk to them about it! "
— Stephanie, 5/17/2011" Great, edgy teen urban fantasy. It would be a better boy book if it didn't have a girl on the cover. I didn't realize when I picked this up that it is the 2nd in the series. At least the 1st has a boy on the cover. "
— Kathyred, 5/15/2011" Loved this book! I'll be posting my review this Thursday on my blog. "
— Christine, 5/13/2011" Loved it! Love this series. I really enjoy the guy lead character. The love "conflict" is within himself really...I just want to shout "She really loves you!" The other characters, along with the premise are just so cool! "
— Joan, 5/12/2011" If you read White Cat, this is not as good plot-wise, but a quick read and enjoyable as Holly Black always is. I love her young, dark characters. Wish Goodreads did 1/2 stars...I would add it. "
— L., 5/8/2011" I loved this! If Cassel/Lila doesn't happen in Black Heart, I will WEEP. "
