Baffled by a seemingly supernatural connection to his critically injured sister, an FBI special agent heads to the Oregon coast in search of a more plausible explanation for his sudden ESP, only to discover more puzzling mysteries.

FBI agent Ford MacDougal - Mac - is recovering from a terrorist car bombing when his sister appears to purposely drive her Porsche off an Oregon cliff. Curiously, Mac felt as if he were in the car with her as she sailed toward the sea, even though he was really in a hospital bed on the other side of the country.

By the time Mac arrives in Portland, his sister - Dr. Jilly Bartlett, a medical researcher - has come out of the coma she's been in for four days. But after a few scant hours with her brother, Jilly vanishes without a trace. In searching for her, Mac gets a different story from everyone he encounters. When the local sheriff enlists Mac's aid in a puzzling murder of an elderly resident, Mac little suspects that the case connects to his sister's disappearance. FBI agents Lacey Sherlock and Dillon Savich (last seen in The Target) join Mac to ride shotgun, only to find their search leading from a small town on the Oregon coast to the rain forests of Costa Rica. Together, they must escape relentless pursuers as well as the hostile jungle itself before discovering the true nature of the evil at The Edge. Download and start listening now!

" Strange read the title fits. Some parts of the story was over The Edge. Hope the next story is better. "

" I have not read Coulter's Sherlock and Savich books in any particular order. I've enjoyed the series for the most part but this book has been a bit of a challenge. I did finish it, but it didn't seem to have the sparkle that most of her others have had. Still an ok read, that meets up with the Savich and Sherlock series. Don't you just love those two. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Carrie | 2/3/2014

" Frankly, I just believe that Coulter can do better than this, because I've read better work from her. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Missrem | 2/3/2014

" This book was my least favorite of the series so far. She seemed to be all over the place and I struggled to hold interest. The only reason I read through to the end was out of commitment to finish the books I begin. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jill C | 1/17/2014

" Not one of Coulter's best in my opinion. The story moved well enough, but I didn't care for it being written in first person from Mac's point of view. Also felt the ending didn't offer enough closure. Once the criminals were exposed, it wasnt' clear how all of them were dealt with. (Maybe I read through it too fast.) "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Chana | 1/7/2014

" It was silly really, but still compulsively readable. No insight into anything, except maybe the weather of Costa Rica and diversity of life in the rain forest. The book contains quite a bit of sex and is sprinkled with jarring statements such as, "I'd give my right nut for a beer". Still, I was interested enough to read it pretty much straight through. "

" Didnt like this book but I did the first three in the series and will continue on with the rest. One thing I dont understand it why she threw in a first person book in the series - none of the others were that way. "

" Long ago, I read the first couple books in Coulter's FBI series. I've also listened to a few on audio. This is another one. It was fast, light, and (I'm almost ashamed to admit) actually held a couple of surprises for me plot-wise. A pleasant surprise, indeed, since it was more than I was expecting. "

" This is the 2nd book I have read by Catherine Coulter, and I reallym didn't like either one. The plots were too convoluted, and unbelievable. When I didn't like the first one, I thought I would give her another try, but I don't think I will read another one of her books. "

" I've enjoyed most of the FBI series but in this one, it seemed like some parts were far fetched and made the FBI look a bit incompetent. I felt it was also lacking in the suspense the others had, but for the most part, the story moved right along. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Allison | 6/13/2011

" I have read this book countless times and I have to say that I am never disappointed. I thoroughly enjoy this series. The way that Savich and Sherlock are together is the best part of the book. Their working relationship and marriage are terrific! I love them together! "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Robin | 9/13/2010

" This was a book that had two thrillers ~ The Target & The Edge~
These are two of Catherine Coulter's first novels. I really liked The Target, but was tired of the cookie cutter writing in The Edge. I hadn't read her in a few years, but now have my fill for a few more. "
