#1 New York Times bestselling author Catherine Coulter returns with another pulse-pounding thriller featuring FBI agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock...
A serial killer is on the loose, and it's up to FBI agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock to bring him down. They soon discover that the killer has blood ties to an infamous and now long-dead monster. Savich and Sherlock are joined by agents Lucy Carlyle and Cooper McKnight, and the chase is on.
At the same time, Agent Carlyle learns from her dying father that her grandfather didn't simply walk away from his family twenty-two years ago: he was, in fact, murdered by his wife, Lucy's grandmother. Determined to find the truth, Lucy moves into her grandmother's Chevy Chase mansion. What she finds, however, is a nightmare. Not only does she discover the truth of what happened all those years ago, but she faces a new mystery, one that has been passed down from mother to daughter for generations.
As the hunt for the serial killer escalates, Savich realizes he's become the killer's focus, and perhaps the next victim. It's up to Lucy to stop this madness before it's too late.

"The story line is fast-paced, especialy when the FBI reallize who they are dealing with and never slows down as you anticipate the showdown between the killer and the FEDs. The serial killer is related to Ted Bundy and a female daughter to boot. At the same time Lucy is paired up with Coop and learns a shocker at the death of her father?? Plus a another story line going on towith a robery of a corner store...."

“Lucy’s brush with mortal danger leads her into Cooper’s arms and closer to uncovering her family’s dark secrets. A tight plot full of unexpected twists will keep readers turning the pages.”
— Publishers Weekly" As always, another exciting book from Catherine Coulter. I think I have read most of the books in this series and enjoyed all of them. "
— Carolyn, 2/19/2014" I've read all of Catherine Coulter's FBI series. Split Second is the most recent. I would almost classify it as a psychological thriller, something a little different for Ms. Coulter but an excellent novel. "
— James, 2/13/2014" Just finished this book and it was as good as it gets. I always enjoy the FBI thrillers. "
— Nancy, 2/10/2014" great book. Love this series. this is #15. All great... "
— Amy, 2/7/2014" I have followed this series for a while now and this series has gone from good to okay to not worth it. Lately the past couple of books have gotten to be just plain bizare and unbelivable. This book in particular is a perfect example. There just too much going on in this book where it just lost my attention (ie: the hunt for Ted Bundy's daughter, death of the Lucy's father, and shooting in the shop'n' go etc.) I think the author should just stay one main plot and maybe subplot. "
— Jill, 1/29/2014" good, but unusually odd at the same time....thats all I can say, ya gotta read it. "
— Marie, 1/27/2014" I usually enjoy her FBI books and I liked this book for the most part. She got into more ESP/psych stuff and I thought it detracted from the book. She is a good enough writer that she doesn't have to go into that direction to make a book interesting. I would rather she stuck more to the real world and concentrated on making her characters and plot edge of your seat believable. "
— Kay, 1/22/2014" You are going to like this book, even if you are a new reader. "
— Virginia, 1/12/2014" This is the latest installment of Catherine Coulter's FBI novels. It was a page turner and definitely rates up there with good summer reads. "
— Helen, 1/8/2014" A wonderful action packed thriller featuring FBI agenets Savich and Sherlock, Lucy and Coop, and even some magic:) A very good read! "
— Sarahb., 12/30/2013" Great, love the series, can not wait for the next one. "
— Michele, 12/21/2013" WOW. Catherine Coulter is wonderful. I love reading her FBI Thriller Series. Split Second was definitely one of my favorites. Savich and Sherlock are always entertaining. "
— Liz, 12/5/2013" I haven't picked up a book by this author for a while so I'd forgotten how good the FBI series is. I prefer the story-line featuring Savich & Sherlock - they are such great characters. "
— Karen, 11/26/2013" Can I just say it was stinky and leave it at that? Okay...okay, the dialogue? No one talks like that...the story, so cheesy...so flimsy. I think she decided, and her editors decided, Hey, look at the bestsellers I've/you've written...let's just phone this one in... "
— Melissa, 11/8/2013" I liked the main story. However, the paranormal storyline really turned me off. "
— Pam, 7/21/2013" A little bit predictable in the storyline, but I always love that there are multiple plotlines going on in her books. "
— Kim, 5/11/2013" This was okay; it's always nice to check in with Savich and Sherlock. There seemed to be too many concurrent plots and so the action was jumping from one to the other fairly quickly. "
— Harriet, 3/12/2013" I have really enjoyed this FBI series of Coulter's. And I enjoyed this one too. Thought the plot and character were well drawn out and interesting. Unfortunately there is a paranormal part to the story that I just found to be totally out of place for this story. "
— Madeline, 1/25/2013" Another good read from Catherine Coulter. "
— Lucy, 1/4/2013" Another page turner. Kept me going all the way through.. "
— Sharon, 11/27/2012" A fast read. Fine - middle of the road. Does kind of make me want to go back and read the first one in the series. "
— Bridget, 5/13/2012" I enjoyed this one way better than the last one. She is back to her great story telling with Sherlock and Savich. "
— Shari, 2/16/2012" My first and last Catherine Coulter novel. Really lame. "
— Sandra, 1/31/2012" Chasing a serial killer(Ted Bundy's daughter), solving a local murder, and investing a long ago mysterious murder in the family of one of the FBI agents all combine to make this Sherlock and Savich thriller very enjoyable. (Glad Savich did not use his ESP in this one!!) "
— Academicsupport, 10/26/2011" I just needed an easy, engrossing, fairly mindless read. I like Coulter's FBI series, but, as with so many series, I think the early books are the best. This was lacking something that I just can't put my finger on. Fine as a distraction, though. "
— Sue, 9/27/2011" Another Execellent Read by Catherine Coulter. Savich and Sherlock get better with every book. "
— Alician, 7/22/2011" Another great story in Coulter's FBI series! "
— Amy, 3/17/2011Catherine Coulter is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of eighty-seven novels, including the FBI Thriller series and A Brit in the FBI international thriller series, cowritten with J. T. Ellison.
