"Carr is a master of charming small-town ambience." —Publishers Weekly on Return to Virgin River
Welcome back to Virgin River with the books that inspired the hit Netflix series…
John "Preacher" Middleton is closing Jack's Bar when a woman and her young son come in out of the wet night. A marine who has seen his share of pain, Preacher knows a crisis when he sees one—the woman is covered in bruises. He wants to protect them and to punish whoever did this, but he knows immediately that this is more than just instinct. Paige Lassiter has stirred up emotions in this gentle giant of a man—emotions that he has never allowed himself to feel.
Then Paige's ex-husband turns up in Virgin River. And if there's one thing the marines' motto of Semper Fidelis—always faithful—has taught Preacher, it's that some things are worth fighting for.
Don't miss Robyn Carr's next uplifting novel, The Friendship Club, where four women come together at a tumultuous time in their lives, forging an unbreakable bond that will leave them all forever changed—available January 2024!

"I really want to give this one 5 stars. It's my favorite of the series. The problem is the main couple of this book have to share it with three other storylines. They're good other storylines but really I think that Preacher and Paige deserved just a little bit more time for themselves."

" I totally fell in love with Preacher. I like these stories, but there is always so much going on. Usually I like the focus o be on the main couple, not everything else that is going on in town. "
— Nicole, 2/17/2014" Not a fan of the telling instead of showing writing. "
— Jessica, 2/9/2014" Nice to catch up on Preachers background. "
— Ann, 2/5/2014" This has got to be one of the best books I have read in a long time. I laughed, got angry, I cried. To top it off a fell in love John "Preacher" words can not describe that man, oh why does he have to be fictional...lol "
— Angela, 2/3/2014" Shelter Mountain is a nice piece of CHIC lit. This story does not stand out as one of the "best reads", however, it is a good read. I loved the characters!! I will look by more books by this author. "
— Marcy, 1/18/2014" In general, I love the Virgin River character, but this one was the least interesting book in the series. "
— Marleen, 1/15/2014" I really enjoyed this book, wasn't a hard read, but a great weekend read...the story and Preacher and Paige was great...the story also included people from the first book in the series, looking forward to the net book in the series... "
— Christine, 1/13/2014" I thought this book was good, very strong in the secondary character's parts. The main romance was very sweet but I thought it could have been more intense by the end. Still, it's very good. "
— Sonia189, 1/10/2014" Another great book in the series. It was touching how Robyn brought into a real subject and situation. She does that often in her books. Not just always fiction, but real life subjects. "
— Becky, 12/31/2013" Really glad I stumbled across this series at my local library. The 2nd book was even better than the first. "
— Kellie, 12/28/2013" Enjoying this series.....got the rest of them for Christmas. "
— Pat, 12/15/2013" Loved this book even though read it late in the series. "
— Cindy, 12/5/2013" John and Paige - Mike and Brie "
— Mayi, 10/13/2013" Small, mountain town drama: crime, romance, suspense, tender moments, etc. Some spice and language. I didn't enjoy it as much as the first one, but my reading was broken up into two major sections, so maybe that's why. "
— Lauri, 8/16/2013" Good series. Enjoying reading about the people who live in a small mountain town. "
— Rebecca, 5/16/2013" A wonderful love story for Preacher and Paige; and enjoyed catching up on the other characters. Virgin River "
— Marlene, 12/22/2012" This is the second book in the series. I love Paige & Preacher - two of my favorite characters in the series. Also, love the continuation of the relationship with Mel & Jack. Again, great series. "
— Lori, 12/12/2012" I love this book, I do, but the typos make me so cranky! "
— ms, 10/13/2012" The series is growing on me quite a bit and I agree with everything Darcy said in her review. "
— Heather, 10/5/2012" Love love love this story!!!! "
— Keylee, 9/20/2012" Just not my thing. Way too sappy and goody-goody. A shame, since I love traumatized heroines, but this was just preachy in its wholesomeness. "
— PNR, 9/17/2012" Second in a series available in large print -- great for the treadmill. Easy reading. "
— Jane, 9/14/2012" I loved it but it was very violent. I feel her books are not only sweet romance, but it also feels like a bit of a cliche with the domestic abuse, teen pregnancy. I love the characters but can we have a sweet, nice, non violent romance? "
— Rae, 8/31/2012" This is another great book and I enjoy the storyline. It keeps you wanting to read more without putting the book down. Preach and Paige show who they really are in the inside. Love it how Preach purposes to Paige. "
— Kimberly, 7/4/2011" I'm hooked! Not sure as to the appeal, could be that I enjoy getting to know the characters. Things move pretty fast in this little sleepy town though. Carr weaves a good story and has threaded some good research throughout the story. Very pleasant reading. "
— Leanne, 5/10/2011" 4.5 stars... Now i'm hooked and it's wonderful that there are 13 books. I will write more later :) "
— Leea, 4/27/2011" Good series. Enjoying reading about the people who live in a small mountain town. "
— Rebecca, 4/21/2011" The first book was good, this one was even better. "
— Sandy, 4/2/2011" Para mí esta novela se encarga de contarnos la historia más tierna de toda la saga "
— Beatrizz1983, 3/25/2011" I love this series. I feel like I have friends in Virgin River that I need to keep track of. Can't wait to move on to the next so that I find out what is going on with my new friends. "
— Karin, 3/24/2011" Didn't think any of the Virgin River me could make me love them more than Jack. Guess I was wrong, since Preacher just topped the list...at least until the next book. ;) "
— Liza, 3/15/2011" This series in really wonderful. It's like taking a vacation to Virgin River and never leaving the house. The characters in the series are so much like family. I love spending time with them everyday. Excellent reading that's all I can say. "
— Marjorie, 3/5/2011" Not as good as the first in the series. But perhaps it just because I don't enjoy the abused woman theme. Good for her for getting away and kudos to Preacher for protecting her. "
