Welcome to Virgin River, California. Hidden Summit is the 17th book in the Virgin River Series by Robyn Carr, so feel free to jump in here and then go back and catch up on the rest of the books.
Looking for a new start, Leslie Petruso decides to take a job at a construction company in Virgin River to avoid the constant run-ins with her ex-husband and his new wife in her old town. She finds herself whipping the office into shape and the company is doing well. So well, that her boss needs to hire more workers.
Enter Conner Danson, a man with a past. Burned at love, his business literally burned to the ground, and having witnessed a crime, Conner shows up in Virgin River as part of the witness protection program. Wanting nothing to do with relationships with other people, he tries to keep to himself and avoid Leslie at all costs.
Chemistry, however, cannot be denied, and as much as Leslie and Conner don't want a relationship, they find themselves drawn to each other. Will they make it work? This story is unpredictable, so don't think for a second you know which way it will turn.
Robyn Carr began writing when her children were young out of necessity. She planned on being a nurse, but being an Air Force wife left her little opportunity to settle down and learn the profession. She started with historical fiction, and Carr eventually jumped into contemporary stories, even trying her hand a thriller, but that was a one-time thing, according to her. The Las Vegas writer has been working on the Virgin River series for awhile, and there will be a few more after this one. In 2013, the Thunder Point series will begin, and readers will have a chance to get to know characters in the coastal town of Oregon.
“With her customary attention to detail and the excellent characterization skills for which she is so beloved, Carr introduces new friends while updating fans on the continuing adventures of previous protagonists and the town in general.”
