In Such a Pretty Fat, Jen Lancaster learned how to come to terms with her body. In My Fair Lazy, she expanded her mind. Now, the New York Times bestselling author gives herself—and her generation—a kick in the X by facing her greatest challenge to date: acting her age.

Jen is finally ready to put away childish things (except her Barbie Styling Head, of course) and embrace the investment-making, mortgage-carrying, life insurance–having adult she’s become. From getting a mammogram to volunteering at a halfway house, she tackles the grown-up activities she’s resisted for years, and with each rite of passage she completes, she’ll uncover a valuable—and probably humiliating—life lesson that will ease her path to full-fledged, if reluctant, adult.

" I have to admit, I was reluctant to pick up this book. I don't generally read memoirs, and I'd never heard of Jen Lancaster until my new book club selected Jeneration X as our first read. On top of that, I was warned some might be offended by the tone and language. If that's not an invitation to dive right in, I don't know what is. I'm so glad they selected this book. As a writer, I'd be remise not to genuinely appreciate Chapter 7, pages 81-87, and as a Generation X-er, I chuckled my way through most the book. Until I got to the middle of the book and started guffawing (there's really no better word for it) out loud. Not only did I relate to the bone marrow story (oh, could I tell you marrow stories of my own, though now I wish I'd actually tried it instead of trying to hide it from the waiter), I was literally in tears from the cat-lube story (you have to read one that yourself). All in all, this book was a lot of fun with just the right mix of sincerity and retrospection someone like me can appreciate. I'll definitely be adding Ms. Lancaster's other books to my to-read list, and I can't wait to see what she can do with fiction. "
