"The horrors of the lives of the lower classes in England woven into a story of the transformation of a few from the higher classes who blindly cause their suffering. Brilliantly told story and exceptionally well researched to bring out the labyrinthine possibilities of the social circumstances without losing the reader in the maze of societal norms and expectations. Thoroughly enjoyed it! "

" I keep reading this series, even though it isn't stellar. I like the main characters though. This one was fairly complex and detailed, and a bit bogged down because of it. The the denoument was about 2 pages long. The end. A bit disappointing. "

" A good book but I thought the ending happened very fast and left a few loose ends. As always, there is further character development which for me is one of the reasons that I enjoy this series. The mysteries themselves are not the main focus rather the characters are. "
