Fourth in the series of Charlotte and Thomas Pitt mysteries, Anne Perry's Resurrection Row explores the dark undercurrents that run through the lives of the idle rich in Victorian England. After a wonderful night at the theatre, Thomas and Charlotte find themselves confronted with a corpse in the driver's seat of a hansom cab. Even more shocking-it is the body of a peer of the realm who had been decently buried the week before. While the doctor insists Lord Fitzroy-Hammond died a natural death, the Pitts find the situation anything but natural. Determined to get to the bottom of things, Inspector Pitt begins his investigation within the proper channels while his intrepid wife Charlotte renews a tie from her past to get inside Lord Fitzroy-Hammond's world. But as they dig their way closer the truth, they find themselves in danger from forces who will do anything to keep it buried.

"So I enjoyed this one... kept me going. I liked the fact that the plot was not the normal run of the mill one that I have read over and over again. Nice mystery. And this time I kept up! I wish their was more of Charlotte but I guess considering the era that wouldn't really be appropriate."

" I really enjoyed this book. The emphasis is more on Thomas and his investigating skills, whereas Charlotte's role is more sounding board (he still treats her as his intellectual equal) and shelter from the storm. It's a lovely portrayal of detective work, marriage, and domesticity. "
— Marissa, 2/16/2014" There were dead bodies every where and I really was guessing right until the last few pages. These are fun reads! "
— Cindy, 2/15/2014" One of my favorites in the series. I love the part with the dead body sitting in the audience at the funeral. "
— Tammie, 2/12/2014" I really liked this one in the series. I actually had a dream about how I thought it might end while I was reading it! "
— Tweek, 2/2/2014" I am enjoying re-reading the early books in the series, so that I can read the newer ones. "
— Emily, 1/29/2014" Good Pitt mystery, kept some of the characters from the previous novel and pulled in a bit of Victorian era social commentary as well. "
— Carla, 1/28/2014" Even better than the last - hooray, the series is picking up! "
— Katie, 1/25/2014" What can I say - love going back to these books and narrator Davina Porter brings them to life "
— Linda, 1/17/2014" I continue to make my way through this series. Didn't like this one as much as previous episodes I have read. Not sure why. I still read it in about 3 days so, obviously I liked it enough to keep reading to see who done it. "
— Laura, 1/16/2014" Inspector Pitt mystery. The 4th in the series as I re-read them. Fascinating plot line, excellent characters. Totally riveted. "
— Erin72, 12/15/2013" Liked this one, but there is more going on in the Monk series. This series was written first and I think Perry has improved over time. "
— Beth, 12/7/2013" I'm starting to "get" the mysteries. Really like these characters. Can't wait for the next one. "
— Elise, 12/5/2013" I don't think I'll ever tire of reading Ms. Perry's mysteries. She has such a knack for character and story, and I'm surprised every time with how the mysteries are solved. "
— Maeghan, 12/1/2013" The 4th book in the Pitt series deals with darker and heavier subject matter. This is too much for my comfort level and I will take a break from this series for a while. "
— Grace, 11/21/2013" Dead bodies being dug up. An artists blackmails. Pornography. Scandal in Victorian England. Pitt solves the mystery with Charlotte's insight. "
— Jen, 11/11/2013" Discovering that British writers really aren't my thing. "
— Kathy, 5/29/2013" Great story, engaging characters, and a passion for social justice - a great combination! "
— Stephanie, 2/7/2013" I like this one a lot. Not too much psycho-analyzing of people's darkest secrests. It starts off a litte slowly I think (despite the corpse showing up immediately) but I like how it finishes. "
— Mary, 10/18/2012" Fourth Thomas and Charlotte Pitt mystery. "
— Kathleen, 6/7/2012" I am more of a historical fiction fan, but i thoroughly enjoy this series - i am not sure if I would "read" it, but I am totally addicted to the "audible" format, although some narrators are better than others and it does make a difference. "
— Linda, 3/13/2012" Anne Perry isn't for everyone .. I don't find her books riveting, but they are good mysteries, keep me guessing and I enjoy the time period and setting (Victorian England) "
— Sharon, 2/25/2012" I love Anne Perry. "
— Nancy, 12/23/2011" Still a great series. "
— Connie, 1/5/2011" Love the way the Pitts work together bring some of their lives into their work. "
— Karen, 11/6/2010" This was intriguing and fun. The characters remain to come alive for Anne Perry in her latest story in a series about Thomas Pitt. "
— Arthur, 10/8/2010" Another Charlotte and Tomas Pitt Novel...set in England in the 1800's, lots of detail about the time period manors, morals, dress, etc. I enjoy them because the mystery is secondary to the characters. "
— Natalie, 7/24/2010" I like these books up until the endings. The just end. Punkt. No ends tied up. That leaves me dissatisfied and I tell myself I won't read another. And then I do anyway. I'm not sure why. Perhaps I keep hoping the next one will be different. But it never is. "
