#1 New York Times bestselling author Iris Johansen turns up the heat in this explosive new psychological thriller. This time a gifted arson investigator teams up with a mysterious operative to stop a killer raging completely out of control... For Kerry Murphy, the inferno is never far away. The flames of that long-ago night still burn in her nightmares: the heat, the choking smoke, the helplessness. She can never run fast enough... Now Kerry works as an arson investigator with her evidence-sniffing dog, Sam. Together they're a great team, but her life is about to change in the time it takes to strike a match. The deadly flames of her past are back, and from out of the ashes a stranger appears. Who is Silver? And why has he chosen her in the desparate race to find a killer determined to ignite hell on earth? Kerry and Silver may not have a chance against a psychopath as coldhearted as his method is red-hot. To save themselves and the innocent lives at stake, Kerry will have to do what she hoped she'd never have to do: fight fire with fire.

"You have to admire a woman's relationship with her dog. As adorable as the dog seemed to be, the mystery of Silver his ability to leave havoc in his wake kept me reading. Again, Iris Johansen's suspense was enjoyable."
— Jennifer (4 out of 5 stars)
" Not bad for a quick, cheap thrills summer read. "
— Tabitha, 2/15/2014" Iris Johansen is an interesting author. I had read another book by her before this "
— Marti, 2/5/2014" Not bad at all! Great spin on pyrokinesis. Good characters, great plot line, a little weak on the ending but overall pretty great. "
— Heidi, 2/2/2014" Very interesting book by Johansen. I enjoy her books and this one did not disappoint. I will admit that it took some time to get into, but after a few chapters and the realization that Kerry and Silver would actually be able to work together I continued to read with interest. Crazy to think that some people may have the ability to think and understand other people's thoughts, but hopefully not to the extreme of Kerry and Silver. "
— Michael, 1/26/2014" Horrible. The synopsis on the back is misleading. After reading the back, I thought it was going to be about and arson investigator and her dog, but a few chapters into the book I found out it is more about psychic powers and communicating telepathically. Hardly any actual references to an actual arson investigation or the arson dog. very dissapointing. "
— Dawn, 1/26/2014" Entertaining, but I couldn't read it fast enough with Stephen Kings new book sitting on my dresser. "
— Marla, 1/24/2014" I was not so impressed with this book of hers. It kept me going but not like Killing game. The ending did shock me though. "
— Jackie, 1/15/2014" Just couldn't connect with this book for some reason... "
— Terri, 1/12/2014" Weird story, more paranormal than mystery (I was expecting straight forward crime story). Not terrible but wouldn't go around recommending anyone read it. "
— Becky, 1/8/2014" I enjoyed the story. Kept me turning pages. The ending was not what I expected. Which was good. "
— Robin, 12/26/2013" Suspenseful, some para normal activity "
— Ginny, 12/24/2013" I picked this up as a freebie from the last book sale. Suspenseful, although the supernatual element isn't really my cup of tea. "
— Denise, 12/7/2013" Nothing like the descritpion from swaptree, book wasn't my style "
— Tracey, 12/7/2013" Great book had a hard time puttin it down had me from the beginning loved the relationship between Kerry and Silver and was shocked at who killed her mom never suspected who it was "
— Season, 11/28/2013" See? I DO read fiction (occasionally)! "
— Laurie, 11/22/2013" it was a great great read...i had no idea that it was gonna turn out that way it was great that they pulled in a victom of a house fire...and that no one believed her until it was to late so to speak "
— Aleshia, 6/5/2013" An interesting and gripping book although it was quite implausible, in my opinion. "
— Judy, 3/26/2013" WOW!!! some "sci-fi" tossed in there along w/ the twisted thriller sections!!! "
— joyce, 1/20/2013" this is a lot like Pandora's daughter in that she is getting into the psychic area. I am not sure I like that direction. "
— Andra, 12/27/2012" I really enjoyed this book. I found the suspense just kept me reading and I really surprised by the ending. "
— Wendy, 12/3/2012" Woman wakes up from a 2 year coma to discover she has the gift of "seeing" fire and arson. She works for another gifted man to find a serial arsonist. It's okay. Thriller adventure. "
— Kelly, 11/6/2012" Fast moving and suspenseful, but this book is not for the person who doesn't, at the very least, think it's possible to have psychic mind reading and/or controlling abilities. "
— Linda, 9/10/2012" It was a bit out there but..... "
— Jan, 9/6/2012" Another so-so reader, very tense voice, I felt it was a strained voice through out the whole reading, not just the parts that should be strained! Interesting plot, with a good twist at the end. I never saw it coming. "
— Pat, 6/18/2012" Johansen writes interesting pieces but each that I've read involves a heroine and someone with extraordinary talents or skills. Still in all they are generally a decent read in the "thriller" category. "
— Charly, 2/5/2012" The dude in this book is rather sick! It certainly kept you wanting to know what happened next... "
— Jason, 10/31/2011" Good read. I enjoyed meeting new characters, even though I like the Eve Duncan characters better. That is probably because I have come to know them better. "
— Sue, 10/21/2011" I did not like it very much. "
— Janiska, 9/16/2011" A romance mystery with paranormal element. I didn't like it. It was a romance of the minds but still using sex to sell books. "
— Kristel, 8/26/2011" Interesting concept. A bit of mind-reading, and psychic flashes. It was enjoyable, and intriguing at times. "
— Denise, 7/13/2011" I would have given this a 2.5 rating. Not one of Johansen's best. "
— Kristen, 5/23/2011" I was not so impressed with this book of hers. It kept me going but not like Killing game. The ending did shock me though. "
— Jackie, 2/16/2011" This is one of the books I picked for a dollar at Half Price. I just fill a basket with anything that looks interesting. "
— Amanda, 2/9/2011" The two main charactrs have esp and mind-meld and use those abilities as they chase a firestarter. I guess I just don't care for Iris Johansen's books - not my cup of tea. The characters come across like cardboard cut-outs. It's all dialog and no development. To each his own ... "
— Salsadancer, 1/10/2011" I did not like it very much. "
— Janiska, 1/8/2011" Entertaining, but I couldn't read it fast enough with Stephen Kings new book sitting on my dresser. "
— Marla, 11/13/2010" I didn't think I would enjoy this one, as it's not my usual type of book, but I'm glad I read it. The author's sometimes-odd sentence construction bothered me, but overall, it was a decent read. "
— Dana, 10/25/2010" I only gave it 3 stars because it kept me interested enough to finish it. "
— Debi, 10/9/2010" I really enjoyed this book. I found the suspense just kept me reading and I really surprised by the ending. "
— Wendy, 10/8/2010" "Firestorm" is a good, suspenseful read. It focuses on a hard, cold killer who uses fire to destroy his victims. This book has stong characters and a very interesting concept of the working and controlling of the human mind. "
— Tammy, 8/27/2010" Fair.... Pretty far-fetched even for this type of thriller -- wouldn't rtecommend.... "
— James, 8/19/2010" This thriller is about a female arson investigator with psychic abilities who is led by circumstances to an interesting, rather dangerous?, man with even more psychic abilities. This is a typical Iris Johansen thriller which is exciting and a lot of fun to read. "
