Stephanie Laurens authors USA Today best-selling historical romances such as A Rake's Vow, Devil's Bride, and Scandal's Bride. The fourth novel of her hot and exciting Bar Cynster series is riveting, Regency-era romance at its very best. Wealthy and roguish, Demon Cynster is perfectly content without love. Having witnessed his Cynster brethren driven to their knees by women, he knows all too well what the power of love can do to a man. But he never banked on meeting Felicity Parteger, a luscious, curvy beauty in desperate need of help. Could this tempting woman be the one? Felicity knows he will never pledge her his love--can passion and lust alone suffice? Driving Laurens' tale toward its climax, Simon Prebble's powerful narration takes listeners to a new pinnacle of pleasure.

"Another great story in the Cynster series. This one involves Demon and his romancing and wedding of Felicity Parteger. Felicity grew up as a ward to the General next door to Demon's Country farm. She is his match in EVERY way and makes him realize it before she agrees to become his bride. They also have to solve a mystery of who is fixing the horse races and save Felicity's 'brother', the Generals son, who got involved and now is hiding to save his life. Great action and romance, but to me, WAY to much description in the love scenes. I ended up just scanning an skipping paragraphs. There is only so much pointless description one can read about clothing and lighting! But there are only a few scenes like this an easily forgotten when looking at the book as a whole. Can't wait to get my hands on the 5th in the series!"

" Horse race fixing intrigue. An enjoyable read, albeit not totally believable. I like that the male and female characters are both strong, and our heroine is not swept away by our handsome rogue. "
— Carla, 2/18/2014" It dragged a bit in the middle but the pace did get faster towards the end. An enjoyable read "
— Yvonne, 2/15/2014" I retread this since it was rereleased from amazon as a $.99 promotion. Many of my older books are in an older format. I glad to have them in one app without spending a lot to repurchase them. "
— Sharon, 2/15/2014" A girl that rides horses, dresses like a boy, and reads romance novels! What more could you ask for? "
— Lindsay, 2/14/2014" I love the Bar Cynster. If you've read these novels you know what I mean. This wasn't my favorite, but it will be added to the collection. "
— Tishea, 2/3/2014" Ah, another of the Bar Cynster gets married. They are a larger-than-life, devastatingly handsome lot and marvelous heroes. I am totally enthralled with Ms. Laurens ability to weave a marvelous story and still continue the family saga, which seems to have no end of heroes and heroines caught in compromising situations. "
— Cheryl, 1/27/2014" Another good read from Laurens. I love the Cynsters. "
— Deborah, 1/18/2014" They are all blending into one another. "
— Irene, 1/10/2014" On second read, I found this much less enjoyable. The plot seems intriguing on the surface, but is buried in tstl moves, and interminable sex scenes. Seriously, 30 pages worth just seems endless--and not in a good way. Some restraint or editing would have been much appreciated. "
— MB, 1/4/2014" I like the Cynsters and Demon and Flick are a fun pairing. A quick read. "
— Moira, 12/18/2013" 4 horses trotting "
— Denae, 12/16/2013" Did not finish because the stuff about horse-breeding and the stud book was just not interesting to me. "
— Ilze, 12/15/2013" Demon and Flick are truly meant for each other. Flick is a heroine I adore and Demon is a hero I love. "
— mabesie, 12/11/2013" The young lady conducted herself pretty scandalously for a Regency book... "
— Mary, 11/4/2013" I really liked Flick and Demon. I think I especially liked that Flick was capable, knew what she wanted, and was able to talk to Demon to get what she needed. I didn't see any TSTL moments:) "
— Janna, 10/22/2013" I really liked Demon. "
— Brenda, 8/6/2013" This is my favorite in the series so far ;) "
— Angie, 4/9/2013" Demon (Harold) and Flick (Felicity). Felicity trying to get her guardian's son out of trouble with race-fixing and seeks Demon's help. "
— Kerin, 9/3/2012" I dont know which one of the Cynster men i love more.. Demon is delicious... sigh "
— Colleen, 6/28/2012" good gravy this one took me forever to read. it went on forever. it really could have been 200 pages less. the plot just dragged on and on. I was disappointed, because usually Stephanie Laurens is a really quick read for me. I normally love her books, which is why I kept slogging through this one. "
— Danielle, 5/7/2012" I adore this series!! Stephanie Laurens is a master at the Alpha Rake!! I love the men pursuing their ladies!! "
— April, 11/29/2011" a LOT of horse talk in this book "
— Stephanie, 6/13/2011" Demon and Flick make a great couple. They have a lot going for them. It was a fun read. Demon should have realized that Flick would not understand the ways of the ton. It lead to unnecessary confusion on Flick's part. Good story. "
— Kathryn, 2/23/2011" They are all blending into one another. "
— Irene, 2/18/2011" It was ok, but if I had to hear about Demon's demons one more time I was going to scream. "
— Lisa, 3/20/2010" I really liked Flick and Demon. I think I especially liked that Flick was capable, knew what she wanted, and was able to talk to Demon to get what she needed. I didn't see any TSTL moments:) "
— Janna, 2/7/2010" Pretty good. Didn't drag too much. I have the rest of the Cynster's and all of the Bastion to read yet. "
— Danette, 12/11/2009" Another good read from Laurens. I love the Cynsters. "
— Deborah, 8/7/2009" Horse race fixing intrigue. An enjoyable read, albeit not totally believable. I like that the male and female characters are both strong, and our heroine is not swept away by our handsome rogue. "
— Carla, 5/20/2009" the 4th in the Cynster series did not hold my interest. The plot involves horse racing/fixing and I find the topic boring. The interplay entre' the characters just was too predictible for my taste "
— Ernie, 1/15/2009" a LOT of horse talk in this book "
