"Great light urban fantasy read for me. Loved the main character Daisy as well as the "world" of Pemkowet. For those of you who like a lot of romance in your urban fantasy be warned the romance is light here but there are three delectable potentials for Daisy to chose from in future novels. (speaking of which) I do hope the author publishes more tales set in this world and soon."

" As always, Jacqueline Carey has given us an amazing book and the beginning of a new series. This one is urban fantasy and she does a great job. Ms. Carey can write fantasy like no other - her Kushiel series puts 50 Shades of Gray to shame. This is the first in the new series and outstanding as always. My favorite author! "
— Charlotte, 2/20/2014" Ok I just started reading this book, on the fourth chapter. I love it. Don't want to put it down. Everything you write is amazing Jacqueline Carey! "
— Chris, 2/18/2014" Oh, I enjoyed this! It's certainly not as epic as her other books (which I love) but that's not a bad thing. I hope there will be many more books in this series! "
— Teena, 2/8/2014" It was good...but not as wonderful as the Kushiel novels. "
— Patricia, 1/25/2014" Pretty darn good! Love the eldritch world! "
— Nicole, 1/18/2014" much lighter than kushiels, very entertaining and funny, brilliantly written. I even had to use the dictionary on my kindle for the first time. other than that, easy read. done in two days. Love JC, one of my fave authors. Def. recommend! "
— Georgia, 1/12/2014" In the wide world of paranormal romance, this one (to the benefit of all) has more plot, more character development and less romance. Excellent quick page turner for a recuperative Saturday. "
— amy, 12/20/2013" Not my favorite story of hers but very solid and I'll continue reading the series when the others come out. "
— Vesperamoon, 11/19/2013" Pretty good story, started a little slow, but picked up a little. May or may not read the next, the story read 'young', not for adults, even though the MC was in her 20s. "
— Billie, 11/16/2013" Really enjoyable urban fantasy - I still haven't read any of Carey's Kushiel or related books, but I loved her Santa Olivia novels. This isn't amazing by any means, but it's engaging and thoroughly enjoyable. "
— Celia, 10/29/2013" This was enjoyable, and had interesting characters and creatures. (but not nearly the caliber of Kushiel's dart). A bit on the young side. "
— Tasula, 10/13/2013" I don't think I have enjoyed a book this much in a while. The world is delightful and I am very much looking forward to new books in this series. Another fantastic book by the talented Jacqueline Carey. "
— Magenta1269, 9/8/2013" Not the best... kinda formulaic. "
— Zen, 5/24/2013" Decent fantasy novel. I liked the heroine. "
— Rebecca, 4/6/2013" This is of the best urban fantasies I've ever read. It takes some common elements of the genre- supernatural heroine, love triangle (quadrilateral?), police procedural-esque plot, etc.- and makes them seem new again. "
— Andrea, 3/23/2013" I think this is aimed more at general UF fans and YA than her previous books. Pretty interesting but not gripping like her Kushiel series. "
— Karolina, 1/20/2013" Jacqueline Carey has written another awesome book. I love her writing style! "
