"Dee Henderson does an extaordinary job in this prequel. It is the first book by this author that I have read and I was not disappointed. Sara Walsh is a woman with dark memories and a horrifying past. At the age of six she and her twin sister Kim were held captive by two men for nine excruciating days, after which they were found...but one day late, as only one made it out alive. One of the captors was apprehended, the other is still at large and years later as a grown woman Sara is still looking over her shoulders in fear...and with good reason. The captor sends packages to her father (an ambassador) on each special occasion, to taunt Sara, to remind her that he will come for her. Surrounded by security at all times her life has no privacy. Her brother David is part of the FBI team and part of her security that is dedicated to finding the kidnapper and ending this nightmare. Along the way Sara meets Adam Black a famous football player who is determined to win her heart, while Sara is determined not to get into a relationship. Her life is complicated and dangerous and she has no wish to put this burden on another person no matter how much she loves him. Without giving up the ending I would say that this is an awsome book. I have read some of the reviews for it, one among which there was a complaint that this is a Christian book and it is not labeled as such (though the tags clearly show that it is and the description of the author also makes this clear)... and I would like to say, yes, it is a Christian book, but a wonderful book that will keep you reading to the very end. It shows a journey of a survivor who is riddled with guilt for having survived while her twin sister did not. Also it is full of suspense, and I will say right when you think it's over...well it's not. There is only one reason I am giving it four stars and that is because I thought the begining was a bit slow paced, but it did pick up and I loved it. Great, great, great read!!!"

" A great listen for the family. Not my normal style of book but really liked it. "
— Dewayne, 1/29/2018" Cute and fast but a little too much God reference for me. "
— Nancy, 2/19/2014" One of my all-time favs! It's not enough to have this on my Kindle, I have to have it sitting on a shelf as well. Christian romance full of intrigue, spiritual struggles, love and desire, and awesome characters. "
— Stacy, 2/14/2014" This whole series is a MUST READ. This is a prequel and can be read alone but I recommend reading it AFTER book one of the O'Malley series. "
— Shelley, 2/10/2014" I thought this was a great thriller that didn't get too gruesome. I could guess where the story was going to go but it was still fun to read and see how we got there. "
— Kristelle, 2/3/2014" I loved this book. It grabbed my attention from the very beginning. "
— Gmagloworm, 1/30/2014" This book sucked me in...cannot wait to continue reading this series! "

— Susie, 12/30/2013" Loved it and the whole series! "
— Danandmegsmom, 12/23/2013" A good mystery thriller; although toward the end does get a little tiring in the plot. You find yourself saying, "enough already! do something!". In the end, it is an enjoyable mystery read. "
— Sheila, 12/23/2013" Really great book. It was intense and interesting the entire time. I couldn't put it down. There's a whole series after this book that I intend to read! "
— Sara, 12/15/2013" A good read - Christian Mystery/Thriller lit. It was a little tough to imagine that anyone could or would live under the kind of security talked about in this story, but none-the-less readable, if not quite plausible. "
— Jean, 12/14/2013" I picked this book up as a free kindle book knowing nothing about the author or book. It sounded interesting. The story is engaging, and has good pace, but it's hard to get past the "God stuff" if you aren't prepared for it. I don't regret reading it, but would not read others in the series. "
— Talia, 11/15/2013" This was good but it didn't keep me on the edge of my seat. "
— Kim, 10/25/2013" This has a beautiful ending, although it's hard to read through tears. "
— Diana, 10/1/2013" I loved this book! It was the first one I read in the set,and couldn't put it down! "
— Kim, 9/23/2013" Five stars plus! I could not put this book down at all! Worth reading, most definitely! "
— Mel, 7/1/2013" I actually read this one second, after the negotiator, but it didn't matter much. I love series where you meet a bunch of characters and each progressive book tells a different set of stories are intertwined in the same setting with the same people. Its like coming home with familiar friends. "

— Carol, 12/29/2011" I like the theme of God in these books. She unapologetically adds her obvious Christian faith into her stories. An intriguing plot, will definitely be reading the series. "
— Jill, 12/5/2011" This book is the best of Christian Fiction. Even a non-Christian would enjoy it. I liked the suspence. I've reread it 3 times! "

— Megan, 6/22/2011" I think Danger in the Shadows has to be read before the O'Malley Chronicles otherwise you might not understand the character, Dave Richman.

"
— Lynn, 6/14/2011" This is an excellent book. It had me from the first few pages, I couldn't put the book down. "
— Tammy, 6/6/2011" I didn't like this one as much as the others I've read in this series, but I'm sure I'll work my way through them all still. I enjoy that these books read like a good suspenseful, action movie. "
— Alison, 5/25/2011" This one was good, but not as good as later ones in the series. I got it free for my Nook and so decided to read it. It drew me into reading more from Henderson, but I probably won't re-read it. "

— Jennifer, 4/13/2011" A little preachy at times, but still good. "
— Linda, 4/12/2011" I've read this book at least three times in the last 7 years. I've started the O'Malley run again starting with this book and moving through all of them. They never disappoint in their suspense, mystery, and romance with Christ at the center. HIGHLY recommend this author! "
