It all began with the theft of the Orb that protected the West from the evil God Torak. Before that, Garion had been a simple farm boy. Afterward, he discovered he is a sorcerer. Now, at last, the Orb has been regained, and the quest nears it end. Of course, the questors must still escape from a crumbling enemy fortress, flee across a desert filled with Murgo soldiers, and avoid the Grolim Hierarchs seeking to destroy them with dark magic. After that, Garion feels assured, his part would be finished. But the Prophesy still holds several surprises for Garion, and for the Imperial Princess Ce'Nedra.

"Brilliant as expected, just like the previous books! Eddings keeps you pining for the next installment, as developments in the plot and with the characters bring things to a new height. From the first book to the current one, the pace has been steadily increasing, as well as the revelations about each character's role in the final outcome."

— James, 1/16/2014" I love the whole story line. I was caught and it never let me go Book after Book. "
— Jim, 1/14/2014" This series is not disappointing! However, this one in the series is slower paced than the previous three. I am still pleased with it though. I would like to know who edited these books... There was a lot of spelling errors and misused words. "
— Crystal, 1/11/2014" Garion and Belgarath set off to confront their nemsis, leaving Polgara and Ce'Nedra to fume. But they create their own way of diverting attention to them instead of Garion. Sets up the big finale in the next book. "
— kaoyler, 12/19/2013" These keep getting better and better. The characters really grew in this one, and I can finally see the end. The pieces are all in place, and so far so good! It does feel a lot like Lord of the Rings, 2.0, but that can be a good thing :) "
— Gina, 12/6/2013" Simply the BEST series I have ever read by far. Stick through the first part of the first book because he is introducing a very rich world. I recommend this series to anyone and have read it MANY times over the years. "
— Matthew, 12/5/2013" This is one of my favorite fantasy series of all time. I remember absolutely loving Silk and Belgarath, and of course Polgara. It's one I need to re-read sometime, I hardly remember much of it. "
— Caroline, 12/2/2013" One of the things I have always liked about these books is how event mold themselves to the prophecies. Easy enough to do in a book. But that inevitability of the prophecies appeals to me. "
— Emily, 11/11/2013" Like all the other books in this series, I enjoyed it. "
— Roostercharlie, 11/1/2013" Even better the 2nd time. "
— Barrett, 10/30/2013" Hail King Belgarion; Kal Torak, bring it! "
— Daniel, 5/26/2013" Could have been a good end point to the saga, but yet more continuation is promised as there's more than just a happy ending. the apce is kept up, and the plot still drives on further. "
— Tim, 4/17/2013" I slogged through the first three books, trying to find something to like about this series. By the time I finally got to book four and still didn't like it, I gave up. Bleah. "
— Paul, 2/21/2013" Book 4 of The Belgariad. "
— David, 9/10/2012" I loved this series. The characters have great personalities and interactions. "
— Dionosaur, 7/9/2012" Excellent fantasy series for young readers. "
— Robert, 2/28/2012" Add this point the series started to get a little boring. Still good, but not as good as the first three books. "
— Chris, 11/26/2011" For notes and review, see Pawn of Prophecy (The Belgariad, volume 1). "
— Dr, 10/23/2011" They hv totally lost it by now. No one is heroic, no one is menacing... if this series was not so short (5books into 300 ages) i dont think i wud hv completed it ... "
— Ankur, 7/5/2011" I felt Tolkien on every page. "
— Jennifer, 6/14/2011" Another great book! Can't wait to read the next volume which is The Malloreon, Vol. 1 "
— Mary, 10/12/2010" While openly written as a formulaic fantasy, the author(s) [David later credited his wife, Leigh, as being a co-writer for the series] still manage to make a compelling tale filled with vivacious characters who are interesting to follow wherever they will take you. "
— Lori, 8/15/2010" I learned more about Belgarion and his Aunt and Grandfather. I learned about how they use magic. "
— Cindy, 8/11/2010" Again, fun series, glad to reread them. Probably start on the sequel as soon as I find 'em in the library. "
— Matt, 7/22/2010" Unlike many epic fantasy sagas I have read (e.g. Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time), the Belgariad only gets better as it nears its conclusion. Eddings knows how to tell a story, I'll give you that. "
— Adam, 7/17/2010" This was an enjoyable read, but it does drag some. Not quite a good as his later novels. "
— Jenn, 6/4/2010" See my review of the first omnibus, which pretty much covers it. "
— Russell, 5/4/2010" As I said in my review of Vol 1, these are great story books! Enjoy them! "
— Savannah, 4/3/2010" Love the characters. The final book felt a little slow in places, but overall I'm very happy with the whole series. "
— Sara, 2/12/2010" Same review as Vol. 1. Same warning about the preface, too. "
— Jim, 2/5/2010" Wonderful conslusion to the Belgariad series!! "
