Here David Eddings's bestselling The Malloreon continues as the epic quest begins, across new lands and among strange peoples. A magnificent fantasy of men, kings, sorcerers, and Gods caught up in a death struggle between two ancient, warring Destinies—the culmination of a seven-thousand-year war of Good and Evil.
The infant son of Garion and Ce'Ndra had been foully kidnapped. Now they began the great quest to rescue the child, with the immortal Begarath the Sorcerer, his daughter Polgara the Sorceress, and inevitably the little Drasnian, Silk.
Guided by the Orb of the God Aldur, their way led through the foul swamps of Nyissa, then into the lands of the Murgos. And at the end, they must face a horrible danger—to themselves and to all mankind.
For the Dark Prophecy had not vanished when Garion slew the evil God Torak. Instead, it had fled to Zandramas, who was now the Child of Dark. Dark and Light still contended for mastery, and Zandramas planned to use the child in some rite and the Sardion Stone to insure that the Dark would triumph.
If they could not be at that impossible place when Zandramas arrived, they would lose—forever.

"In both five book series, the characters are supposedly chasing after something very important. A thief who stole the Orb, and thief who stole Garran. In both cases, it takes the good guys 2 years--four books--to catch them. In a chase, especially when the world hangs in balance, I'd expect everyone to move faster. Instead, their adventures seem almost meandering, depsite how much they SAY they're trying to hurry. There are all these stops at palaces and castles and going around or through or under mountain ranges and trying to avoid capture and war and sailing over vast oceans. After awhile, it gets frustrating. I understand Zandramas had to pull Belgarion into a conflict somehow, and get him to chase after her to the Place Which Is No More, but she could have done something else. DE could have arranged the story so it didn't take so VERY long in this chase. I understand the old sorcerors who have been around several millenia may not feel rushed, but I felt that the driving plot of these books didn't fit. The chosen plot should have been more urgent, and people's all around reactions are pretty much "oh, travel, it takes a few years to get places". They don't seem overly worried. They seem to act like the prophecy will get them into place in time. Having Ce'nedra break into hysterics every now and then doesn't fix the FEEL of the books, which is slow-paced travel rather than break-neck chase.World-shattering consequences, plodding speed. Loads of interesting things happening, but not usually to further the main plot, and not to endanger the main characters (not for more than a chapter or two, anyway)."

" I love the whole story line. I was caught and it never let me go Book after Book. "
— Jim, 2/19/2014" Very good series of books. "
— Erik, 2/19/2014" Getting better...hope 3 is better again!! "
— Starfish, 2/15/2014" A pick up in the series, slightly better again having a few gripping sections. "
— Lizzy, 2/1/2014" Just when I think David Eddings is doing something interesting, he pulls standard plots and cliff-hangers back into his book. In this second book of the Malloreon series we are introduced to the cultures on the other side of the world. Added to that mix is the concept of demons in the world. Mix that all up with an imposed quested through the world to find the unknown and you are almost back to original book in the first series. "
— Michael, 1/23/2014" Things happen again to bring along a quest, and as they go on, the plot starts to unravel, and you want to know what happens next although you seem to have figured it out all by yourself as you read. "
— Amii, 1/16/2014" An amazing fantasy series of adventure and intrigue. This is my favorite series from David Eddings, although his other novels are also wonderful. I have read the whole series several times. "
— Hazel, 1/14/2014" The quest to find Garion and CeNedra's son Geran crosses the western continent picking up characters as it goes. This book has a very funny twist. I won't give it away, but it is certainly enough to change the geopolitics of this region! "
— Kate, 1/1/2014" Fantastic. The best fantasy series I have ever read. It truly is a classic of the genre. "
— Nikki, 12/30/2013" Essentially a re-hash of The Belgariad but they did allude to the fact that everything would be repeated. "
— James, 12/29/2013" I have all the books of the Belgariad and the Mallorean. I have read all of them at least 4-5 times and the first 3 (and this one) 5-7 times. XD I absolutely love these books. And I always look forward to reading them. This one, though, is by far the best. "
— Maxmiriam, 12/20/2013" Read these when I was younger and loved them! "
— Melissa, 12/9/2013" Book # 7 of 10 is incredible. Each chapter revealed a startling surprise w/ new characters, adversaries, and terrain. Splendid! "
— Kenneth, 12/8/2013" For notes and review, see The Malloreon, Book 1. "
— Dr, 12/4/2013" This is the second book in the Mallorean, I really love this series. They continue there journey, and they go to Nyissa. After that they go to Cthol Murgos. Prince Kheldar meets his long lost brother and they are captured. "
— Joseph, 10/19/2013" I've rated this higher than the rest of my Malloreon re-reads solely because of said king of said Murgos. My irrational affection for Urgit saved this book from being as tiresome and plodding as the rest of the series, but in no other respect is it objectively better. "
— Bagtree, 8/21/2013" Love these older fantasy books! "
— Jessica, 6/20/2013" finally the story starts! typical eddings plot, typical eddings dialog. why is it that characters don't ever talk AND do things at the same time? it's sort of weird. anyway, at least a few interesting moments series-wise occur here. "
— Heather, 5/14/2013" not the best Eddings book, but still plenty fun. "
— Beverly, 10/19/2012" reread first read 2001 "
— Renee, 9/9/2012" Nice series. Worth reading if you're a fantasy fan. "
— Hyrum, 3/6/2012" King of the Murgos (The Malloreon, Book 2) by David Eddings (1989) "
— Julie, 10/28/2011" The next adventure for our heroes really gets going now. "
— Eric, 6/10/2011" There's not much more I can say about this series, I love it! You should read it! "
— Jalene, 5/30/2011" A sequel series to The Belgariad. Not quite as good as The Belgariad, but almost. Still a very enjoyable read and I'm sure I'll also read this again. "
— melody, 2/23/2011" Sequel to the best farm-boy-saves-the-world series. Said boy has grown up, unfortunately his wife's character hasn't and remains an annoyance for much of the series. Luckily my favorite oily efficacious eunuch plays a much larger role and is a constant source of amusement. "
— Spazfungus, 12/22/2010" While openly written as a formulaic fantasy, the author(s) [David later credited his wife, Leigh, as being a co-writer for the series] still manage to make a compelling tale filled with vivacious characters who are interesting to follow wherever they will take you. "
— Lori, 8/15/2010" This was an enjoyable read, but it does drag some. Not quite a good as his later novels. "
— Jenn, 6/4/2010" Better than the Belgariad so far, but also more uneven, so I can see people disagreeing. On an almost entirely irrelevant note, it is perhaps a bit funnier than it should be seeing how Eddings deals with the, ah, physical aspects of romance among the main characters. "
— Russell, 5/4/2010" This series is a continuation of the characters in the Belgariad. It is still very endearing like the Belgariad, but did not hold my interest as much as the first series. A great set of books to read when you find that the Belgariad just wasn't enough of your favorite, lovable friends. "
— Lola, 2/9/2010" The continuing saga of Garion and his life. While not my favorite, THE MALLOREON is a fantastic series that if you've read THE BELGARIAD, you finish the series up by reading THE MALLOREON. "
— Kirsten, 12/12/2008" Loved this sequel to the Belgariad. Great fantasy. "
— Suzanne, 11/28/2008" Really good series, really entertaining, just all around great. Silk is an AMAZING character! hehe "
— Fumphwoog,, 9/10/2008" Along with the BELGARARD (which is the series of prequels), the MALOREAN was one of my favorite fantasy stories growing up. I've re-read this series many times, and enjoy it immensely each time. "
— John, 7/27/2008" A continuation of my favorite fantasy series and I have read them multiple times. They move along quickly, but have the right amount of detail so that you can picture all of the characters involved. Great books! "
