Publisher Description

Greenwich, south-east London. The Met's crack murder squad, AMIP, is called out by nervous CID detectives to a grim discovery. Five bodies, all young women, all ritualistically murdered and dumped on wasteland near the Dome. As each post-mortem reveals a singular, horrific signature linking the victims, officers realize that they are on the trail of that most dangerous offender: a sexual serial killer.

Detective Inspector Jack Caffery, young, driven, and unshockable, finds himself facing both hostility within the force and echoes of his past in this, his first case with AMIP. Haunted by the memory of a death long ago, he employs every weapon forensic science can offer for he knows it is only a matter of time before this chaotic, sadistic killer strikes again.

"This was my first book read by Mo Hayder and certainly won't be my last. While this book requires a strong stomach and is very grim at times it really gives us great insight into not only the protagonist but also the main detective character. Will definitely be seeking others in this series and by this author!"

" An exciting read, with a good ending and nice plotting. However, the story is frequently a bit dull, and the killer's identity is spoiled a bit too soon. "

" Having recieved this as a free Nook book I had low expectations. But I was truly suprised. I really was kept guessing which does not usually happen for me. My only issue may have have been an issue with Nook rather then the book itself. The transitions between storylines are abrupt. Often storyline changes are indicated by extra spaces between paragraphs or even symbols, this had neither. This really bothered me during a very important moment for the main character, I had to read the section 3 times to makes sure what I thought happened really happened. "

" Very well written. There were some rather gory descriptions of victims of serial killer but well written and believable. Intrigued by the main character. Looking forward to reading more in this series. "

" I could not get into this book at all. It is not a "page turner". The gore/horror did not bother me at all. What bothered me was the fact that I found the book very boring. I also got lost in the sea of British police acronyms and the slang. "
