Inspired by Dickens’ character The Artful Dodger, Lorraine Heath has created a page-turning, passionate romance. Jack Dodger has survived London’s streets to become the owner of an exclusive gentleman’s club and one of the wealthiest men in England. But when the late Duke of Lovingdon mysteriously makes him guardian of his 4 year old heir, Dodger is thrown together with Olivia, the boy’s mother, who wants to be rid of him as soon as possible. But soon Jack discovers a love that knows no bounds as he comes to care for Olivia. The young woman tames him, and he realizes he’ll give up everything he possesses to make her happy.

"I probably won't read this again because it was so twisted and I have a hard time reading about characters who have been abused. But despite that the hero and heroine were a perfect fit and their coming together was a lovely story. Definitely the best of the other books in the series. Enjoy."

— Yun, 2/10/2014" I really had a hard time with this one, though usually I like Lorraine Heath. I can't understand it, her regencies just don't grab me emotionally the same way her American Westerns do. But, I think the main reason why I didn't enjoy this book was that I listened to it on audio. Big mistake. The narrator, Susan Ericksen, made the heroine's voice much older than someone in their mid-twenties and I didn't care for her version of Jack's voice either. I thought Anthony Ferguson was going to do Jack's voice for the most part (as he is credited as one of the narrator's) but he only did the voice for Jack twice in the prologue and the epilogue! The rest was all by Ericksen. I cannot understand why they did it that way, I was very put off by it. It actually really ruined the book for me! Plus, Olivia and Jack were both so prickly for most of the book, and then miraculously falling in lust and so forth, I just rolled my eyes over their storyline. I really couldn't believe how Olivia just let him control her so much as well, she is a duchess after all! Show some back bone! Too bad, for Jack was interesting in the first book of this series and I had high hopes for his story. Oh well, c'est la vie. 2.5/5 "
— Julie, 2/1/2014" I loved how they so gradually went from hate to attraction to love. It happened over a relatively short span of time, but because the movements were bit by bit, it wasn't jarring like some of the "God, I hate him, but look at those arms! I wants to leap into bed with him!" I've read. "
— Tara, 1/19/2014" Enjoyed the story - will definitely be seeking out the others in the series. "
— Liz, 1/19/2014" I really like the Scoundrels series. After reading the first two and one from another series I plan on adding all the Lorraine Heath books to my to-read list! "
— Audrey02, 12/6/2013" Wow! Walaupun menurutku Jack gak sekeren Lucian tapi oke lah. Dan udah ketebak gitu kalo Olivia itu mestinya jadi ibu tiri Jack! Complicated. "

— Cynthia, 3/13/2013" Another great book in this series. The author brings her characters to life and they just pull me into their story. I went and got the next two books because I knew I wouldn't be able to delay my reading between books. "

— Kelly22, 4/18/2012Lorraine Heath always dreamed of being a writer. After graduating from the University of Texas, she wrote training manuals, press releases, articles, and computer code, but something was always missing. When she read a romance novel, she not only became hooked on the genre but quickly realized what her writing lacked: rebels, scoundrels, and rogues. She has been writing about them ever since. Her work has been recognized with numerous industry awards, including prestigious RITA from the Romance Writers of America.
Susan Ericksen is an actor and voice-over artist. She has been awarded numerous AudioFile Earphones Awards as well as the prestigious Audie Award for best narration. As an actor and director, she has worked in theaters throughout the country.
Antony Ferguson, Earphones Award–winning narrator, was born in London. He has performed successfully on both sides of the Atlantic and has played many leading roles in theater, film, and television.
