Publisher Description

Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux wakes from a year-long coma to find that she has become an angel and that her lover, the stunningly dangerous archangel Raphael, likes having her under his control. But almost immediately, Raphael must ready Elena for a flight to Beijing, to attend a ball thrown by the archangel Lijuan. Ancient and without conscience, Lijuan's power lies with the dead. And she has organized the most perfect and most vicious of welcomes for Elena.

"Second book is better than the first. This series is much better than the Psy/Changeling series. Whereas the Psy/Ch novels are individual stories of different people/couples (basically repeating the same storyline), the Guild series seems to be a continuing story of one couple (Elena and Raphael), which incidently is much better written and has an evolving romance rather than just lust-at-first-site."

Quotes

  • “The mystifying world of angels beckons in the second installment of Singh’s remarkable urban fantasy series…Treachery and viciousness are staples of this shadowy world, which allows the awe-inspiring Singh to give her story a jagged edge. Better clear off more space on your keeper shelf!”

" I am very pleased that there is slightly sparser use of the word "cock" in this sequel. on the other hand the ending was completely anticlimactic and I have no idea what the 'threequel' might be about if this does continue. "

" This wasn't quite as good as the first book, but I did enjoy it. I just wish more emphasis had been on the Lijuan plot and Ellie's memories and less on the lust and jealousy, but I'm not much of a romance reader. "

" Ouch! 80% of the book was all about Elena's recovering and nightmares (drip..drip..drip). I think I'm done with the series. The book was tiring and actionless. Raphael and Elena is the strangest couple in a most uninviting world. Sorry.. and I liked the first book but this one? "
