By day, Mercy Thompson is a car mechanic in Eastern Washington. By night, she explores her preternatural side. As a shape-shifter with some unusual talents, Mercy's found herself maintaining a tenuous harmony between the human and the not-so-human on more than one occasion. "BEST OF THE SERIES. This was my absolute favorite. I was a victim from the fist page to the last, and now that I have finished I am lost. This whole book brought together all of the characters of the other books, and all the love and support Mercedes has had and never acknowledge. I ended this story feeling that I knew nothing about the characters of all the books. Adam and Mercy are finally together, Sam is the overprotective big brother, and Stefan seems to be the one that loves from the sidelines. In all of the other books Mercy has made her bed, but in this story I like how she was trying to look out for the best interest of everyone else and stay safe but trouble followed. Patricia Briggs has herself a best seller right here. I am so anxious for the next book and this one has only been out for a week."
— The (5 out of 5 stars)
The preternatural culture of vampire seethes and wolf pack politics is deeply intriguing. Briggs provides plenty of detail about Mercy's complex world.
— Publishers WeeklyMercy is not just another cookie-cutter tough-chick urban fantasy heroine; she's got a lot of style and substance and an intriguing back-story. Series fans will appreciate the resolution of some ongoing plot lines, and the romantic tension is strong.

— Matt, 10/20/2020" Another great Mercy book! A little short but it's got me looking forward to the next one. "
— Desiree, 3/6/2019" What can I say Stefan is part of the plot and Mercy isn't talking about her independence all the time so I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Enjoyed it more because I let myself have a day off and read this one almost straight through. "
— Gigi, 2/18/2014" Wow. Series gets better and better. Loved this installment. "
— Wendy, 2/18/2014" Go Mercy and Adam!!!!!! I love these books! "
— Windy, 2/5/2014" This series is a lot better at this point than when it started. Decent character development, an excellent array of supporting characters. Mostly reasonably story arcs, although I must admit sometimes a few of the plot twists feel like a pretty large stretch. Ultimately an interesting, enjoyable read. "
— Christina, 2/5/2014" pretty good. There were some strange parts, but it seemed to work out int he end.... can't wait to read the next. "
— Andrea, 1/20/2014" excellent as usual, can't wait for the next one which is on order "
— Michellestevens234, 1/15/2014" Meh this one was pretty slow for me. "
— Heather, 1/4/2014" These books tend to get better throughout the series. This particular one follows Mercy with some issues with the Vampires. I like this book even better than the first two. "
— Summer, 1/3/2014" This is another series I think gets better and better. Go and read it! Now! "
— Amy, 12/17/2013" Geez! Same old same old. Slow to start, shallow romance. Frustrating, & not worthy of hardback! I just have to read the series end! "
— Lolita, 12/4/2013" least favorite so far... just really didnt get good until the last 15pages, but now I am excited that we know a little more about there the fae and what vamps and wolves can do! "
— Justin, 12/1/2013" I should have paid attention to the order of these. "
— Angie, 8/28/2013" I loved all of the installments in the Mercy Tompson series and can't wait for the new book to come out. It is a rather easy read, but you can't help fall in love with Mercy, Adam, all the characters and the storyline. A must read. "
— Emma, 2/25/2013" I think this was one of my favorite books in this series! Fascinating pack and vamp details, good introspection and healing for Mercy, exciting and scary action, great new characters--some sweet and others terrifying. Loved the stuff with Adam and Stefan!! I'm excited to see what happens next! "
— Carie, 1/17/2013" This was good, similar to the Sookie Stackhouse series, but with a more kick-ass heroine. I probably would have been more emotionally involved if I had read the rest of the series. "
— Siobhan, 6/27/2012" Read this one first, because I saw the author in a magazine. Had to go back and then read the first three. Kind of messed up the plot lines "
— Cathy, 2/8/2012" A bit anticlimactic after the drama of IronKissed. But that's understandable. i'm kinda more into the alpha/omega series now, bec there is more overt romance. but i loved learning more about Stefan and am happy that he remains a good guy. "
— WillowBe, 1/26/2012" Could not put it down and read it all yesterday! I think I enjoyed this one the most so far and can't wait to start the next one. "

— Margaret, 5/17/2011" This series keeps getting better and better! "
— Molly, 5/14/2011" I'm really not getting tired of this series--and she's still managing to keep it clean. This is a good sign! "
— Abby, 5/13/2011"
Wow!!! The series picks up right where the last one left off; a sin-sational page turner.
"
— 4/27/2011" slightly weaker than the previous books, but sort of understandable as Mercy is recovering and I like that she was allowed to do that, without her just suddenly being ok. "
— Rebekah, 4/23/2011" I'm still trying to decide how I feel about this book. Not sure I liked it as much as books 1-3. Feels like the story didn't flow well. "
— Jennifer, 4/22/2011" If you like this series, you'll love this book. I love a good supernatural thriller that has lots of intrigue. "
— MB, 4/18/2011" Four books in and I'm *still* not tired of the Mercy Thompson series. I like all the main characters, especially Mercy. I like how her relationships evolve and change and how she's growing as a character. And I like how the peril *always* seems real. Good stuff. "
