Jacky Faber is framed as passing confidential US information to the British. Forced to flee Boston, she goes undercover as a governess for a prominent Puritan family. When outed by a nosy postmaster, she deserts the respectability of her position, dons a leotard and slippers, and poses as a Russian tightrope walker in a traveling circus.
But the law soon catches up with her, and prospects do not look good. Through her many adventures, Jacky has always found the ingenuity to escape dire situations, but this time it looks like Puss in Boots has run out of lives—and her happily-ever-after will be cut short at the foot of the gallows.

“Katherine Kellgren is astounding, as always, as she narrates the twelfth and final book of this series. With such a nimble narrator, listeners will feel as though they’re hearing an entire cast performing men, women, and children with American, Irish, Scottish, and other British accents. Fans of the series know what to expect and won’t be disappointed as Jacky Faber continues her roguish ways…Meyer’s story has many laugh-out-loud moments, but Kellgren’s performance may also bring tears. She gives a wild, wonderful send-off to both Jacky and her author, L. A. Meyer. Winner of the AudioFile Earphones Award.”

L. A. Meyer (1942–2014) was a painter and an author of children’s books, best known for his young adult historical novels in the Jacky Faber Adventure series, also known as the Bloody Jack series. He was born in Pennsylvania, and his father was a US Army office, so he spent much of his childhood moving around with his family. He enlisted in the US Navy and served for four years. He invented the idea for the character of Jacky Faber while listening to British and Celtic folk music on a local community radio station in his workshop.
Katherine Kellgren (1969–2018), narrator and actress, appeared onstage in London, New York, and Frankfurt, including in the role of Laura in a regional production of The Glass Menagerie and appearances on Comedy Central. In recognition of her mastery of audiobook narration, she received many honors, including the prestigious Audie Awards, with four for best female narrator; the Odyssey Award; Publishers Weekly Listen Up Award; dozens of AudioFile magazine Earphones Awards; an AudioFile Golden Voice Award; Booklist Voice of Choice award; and acclaim from press and listener reviews.
