The irrepressible Jacky Faber, condemned for life to the English penal colony in Australia for crimes against the Crown, has once again wriggled out of the grasp of British authorities. Back on her flagship, the Lorelei Lee, she eagerly heads back to England in the company of friends and her beloved Jaimy Fletcher. But when the voyage is waylaid by pirates, storms, and her own impetuous nature, Jacky is cast into a world of danger that extends from the South China Sea to the equally treacherous waters of London politics. With the help of her loyal friends, Jacky meets her enemies head on in this tale of love, courage, and redemption.

"The Mark of the Golden Dragon was a great addition to the Bloody Jack series, and I felt it fit right in with the rest of the books even though it was set on the other side of the world for about two thirds of it. This is the kind of series I have always been searching for: a strong female protagonist who has a very good voice that lives in the 1800s. You can't find a good historical fiction series anymore once you graduate into the teen section, and I can honestly say that this series is up on my list of favorites...right under Harry Potter, of course.=]"

" This series gets better with each book which is a rare delight! The characters are very well developed though I often wonder if the exploits are so fanciful that realism is through out the window. Perhaps that is what has drawn me into the series, knowing that this spunky street urchin becomes whatever she needs to be at a moments notice! Of course the dream of traveling around the world never hurts either! Too fun to put down. "
— Ckrippner, 2/9/2014" I really liked this one mainly because of Lord Richard Allen. Jacky seems to be maturing a little and I like that. Can't wait for the next one! "
— Erika, 1/31/2014" Young adult, but fun and the research is very good. Of course for me they are quick reads, but I can't wait for the next one. "
— Leslie, 1/23/2014" Poor Jamey :( "
— buffy, 1/15/2014" This book is the greatest!!!!!!!! The only thing I hate about this series is the cut off endings!! SO ANNOYING!!! But really awesome book :) "
— Kaela23, 12/31/2013" I did enjoy this installment of the on-going saga of Jacky Faber although it wasn't my favorite. I think it was because I thought the author could have done more (or less with some parts) with the story line. I still can't wait for the next installment. "
— Brenda, 12/14/2013" Once again another amazing Jacky Faber Adventure! "
— Sammy, 12/10/2013" I voraciously read through all the books in a 6 month period. We started out reading the first book to my 10 year old daughter, but I got impatient and read the rest of the books on my own, at my own speed! "
— Maile, 12/9/2013" my favorite line from a review: "a colorful addition to jacky's wildly improbable but wonderfully entertaining adventures." oh, jacky. "
— Eliza, 8/21/2013" More Jacky Faber shenanigans fill this installment which seems a bit like filler before she jumps into more wartime adventures. "
— Cindywho, 6/10/2013" Good 'ol Jackie! She is up to her usual tricks, this time in the deep Orient. Although the prose is beginning to wear a little thin, I am still enjoying these books on the strength of the protagonist alone! "
— Eddie, 4/19/2013" I am only continuing to read these books because of my affection for Jacky from the first few novels but something has got to happen between Jacky and Jaime. Or with Jacky and Joseph. "
— Anna, 4/12/2013" Yet again a fascinating take on a historically vibrant era in world history. I am getting very frustrated with Jacky and her inability to learn her lessons, but I can't resist the thirst for more. "
— Pamela, 11/3/2012" This was one of the shorter books in the series, yet still had a lot going on. "
— Steph, 10/22/2012" Another solid JF adventure, this time with Chopstick Charlie and incorporating Alfred Noyes poem The Highwayman. Fun! "
— Alisa, 3/16/2012" I still enjoy this series a great deal, but I have no delusions that it's good. Jacky is still engaging and fun to read (listen) about, and the audio is fantastic. But it's maybe time for Jacky's adventures to come to an end, hmm? "
