Jacky Faber, rich from her exploits diving for Spanish gold, has purchased the Lorelei Lee to carry passengers across the Atlantic. Believing she has been absolved of past sins against the Crown, Jacky docks in London to take on her crew, but is instead arrested and sentenced to life in the newly formed penal colony in Australia. To add insult to injury, the Lorelei Lee is confiscated to carry Jacky and more than 200 female convicts to populate New South Wales. Not one to give in to self-pity, Jacky rallies her sisters to "better" their position—resulting in wild escapades, brushes with danger, and much hilarity. Will Jacky find herself a founding mother of New South Wales, Australia? Not if she has anything to do about it!

"So I was very happy with this book. I had heard that it wasn't as good as the previous 7 (!!!!!) but maybe enough time has elapsed between my reading #7 and this one and so I just loved re-entering Jacky's world and narrative. One review I read disparaged the re-emergence of so many past characters back into Jacky's life, but I didn't mind. I feel that English sailors in 1807 were a small world in and unto themselves and so of course many past characters are bound to turn up on another ship. Anyway, Jacky was her same wonderful self, Jaimy is the best, and of course it all gets left on another cliffhanger. While I'm definitely looking for closure to this series and wouldn't mind a FINAL book, I will be very sad when that day comes and there are no more adventures for Jacky."

" Oh Jacky. How do you do it? Just when I think I am out you pull me back in. Must be the singing. Anywho...as this is the 8th book in the series I am starting to get a lot of been there/done that feelings. I am also feeling very bad for Jamie and think he would actually be better off without Jacky at this point. But, my main issue is why does everyone (male and female) find Jacky soooooo irresistible? I mean I love me some Jacky, but really! I appreciate that the author is a history teacher and that he has to come up with all these wild plot lines to bring Jacky to different places in history around the world, but I think Jacky (and Jamie) need some peace soon. My fear is that I will grow to hate this series which I so love. I hope this does not happen. Come on Mr. Meyer! Give Jacky her happy ending. "
— Heidi, 2/7/2014" I really can't get enough of this. As the series progress, Jacky gets older, and into more awkward situations. I love them. "
— Tracy, 1/26/2014" Another great installment of the Jacky saga. I can't wait for the next one to find out what happens next. "
— Brenda, 1/23/2014" I have read books 1~8 and I'm addicted! I've lost nights of sleep because I can't put these books down. They are full of adventure, surprises, twists and turns you can't predict and the author being male has a refreshing and funny sense of the female mind. He gives you the fulfilling romance part of the story, intertwined with true female humor but leaves you desiring more. He's a genius and I'm dying to know what happens with our fiesty and fearless Jacky and her love Jamie...Typhoon...that was a cliffhanger that requires walking the plank "
— Melissa, 1/17/2014" I used to love this series. Not so much anymore. "
— Finvarra, 1/17/2014" These books do get more joyfully ludicrous as they go on, don't they? In this one Jacky is convicted of crimes against the crown and shipped off to Botany Bay on a ship full of working girls with much hilarity. She meets improbably Indians and even more improbable Chinese people. It is a fun, slightly ridiculous trip and worth sticking with the series for. "
— Kathleen, 1/16/2014" Lots of fun to read... "

Meyer (1942–2014) was a painter and an author of children’s books, best known for his young adult historical novels in the Jacky Faber Adventure series, also known as the Bloody Jack series.
