THE SECOND PART OF J.R.R. TOLKIEN’S EPIC MASTERPIECE, THE LORD OF THE RINGS
The Fellowship is scattered. Some prepare for war against the Dark Lord. Some fight against the treachery of the corrupt wizard Saruman. Only Frodo and Sam are left to take the accursed Ring to be destroyed in the fires of Mount Doom.
Mount Doom lies in the very heart of the Dark Lord’s realm. Their only guide on this perilous journey is Gollum, a deceitful and obsessive creature who once possessed the Ring and longs to wield its power once again.
As dark forces assemble, the fate of Middle-earth rests with two lonely hobbits—but is Gollum leading them to their deaths?

"All I have to say is that this is how fantasy novels should be made! The entire series is filled with exceptional character development and the reader gets really close to each of them. The descriptions of everything work with the readers imagination to create this mystical world of Middle Earth. The action within it is fitting; all of the wars are written with magic. The story is so amazing and if anyone hasn't read it, I'm telling you to read it!!"

" Tolkiens' Lord of the Rings Saga is no doubt a must-read or must-hear and is providing hours of joy. Having this saga read by "Mr. Gollum" Andy Serkis makes it truly epic. The variety of voices he provides for the different characters is impressive and as a bonus you get THE voice for Gollum. Can only recommend listening to this version! "

— Timothy, 9/5/2016" This was my first time reading The Hobbit, and I loved it. Tolkien's writing makes you feel as though your grandpa just sat you down for a story. I read this after already being a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings movies and now can't wait to see the new Hobbit movies! How they're going to split this book up into three films I have no idea! "
— Chuck, 2/19/2014" Best books ever!!! "
— Kimberly, 2/18/2014" It may be popular to be poking a little fun at The Trilogy, but their a major influence like it or not. "

— Jennifer, 12/22/2013" De Hobbit vind ik fantastisch; de ban van de ring soms wat te langdradig, maar zo mooi! Intussen al verschillende keren gelezen en het is toch telkens weer genieten. "

— Andrea, 9/1/2013" 3 stars mostly for The Hobbit. The Lord of the Rings was simply a "must-read" b/c that's what was popular at the time. I'm not big into fantasy so it was somewhat a difficult if not mundane task to finish off the series. But The Hobbit was certainly a worthy read. "
— Jason, 7/12/2013" More bedtime stories. "
— Heather, 6/10/2013" The perfect fantasy novel. The books create a complete world that the reader can really believe in. I was captivated as a teenager and have lost none of my enthusiasm on re-reading it many times over the years. Not everyone will enjoy it but everyone should read it. "
— Vanessa, 5/17/2013" Loved these books as a kid. Never saw the movies because I didn't want them to tell me that my visions of what happened were wrong. "
— Deejay, 4/4/2013" Evidently, this is the mother of all fantasy stories. A pure classic filled with just about every ingredient imaginable. A must read as most of today's pop culture derives from it, including Star Wars (yes, I said it). "
— Sophie, 3/22/2013" Love, Love, Loved it!!! What more can I say. "
— Elizabeth, 2/22/2013" A series that I think I'm going to keep around and re-read. This is a cherished possession. This is an original 1973 edition. Perfectly worn in and smells of happiness. "

— Stephanie, 11/27/2012J. R. R. Tolkien (1892–1973), beloved throughout the world as the creator of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and other tales of Middle-earth, was a professor of Anglo-Saxon at Oxford, a fellow of Pembroke College, and a fellow of Merton College until his retirement in 1959. His chief interest was the linguistic aspects of the early English written tradition, but even as he studied these classics he was creating a set of his own. His books have been translated into more than fifty languages and have sold many millions of copies worldwide.
