Publisher Description

The third book of the #1 New York Times bestselling I Am Number Four series!

The Mogadorians who destroyed the planet Lorien continue to hunt for the Garde, the small group of Loric survivors who have taken refuge on Earth. During a dangerous mission at a Mog base in West Virginia, John found and rescued the brutish Nine. But even with their combined powers, special abilities known as Legacies, the pair barely escaped with their lives. And in the process, John’s best friend, Sam Goode, was lost and taken captive by the enemy.   In order to save him—and our world—John and Nine must join forces with Six and Seven who have been battling the Mogs in Spain, and who are now trying to locate Number Eight in India. The Garde must come together before it is too late. They are Lorien and Earth’s only hope.   Michael Bay, director of Transformers, raved: “Number Four is a hero for this generation.” This epic young adult series is perfect for fans of action-packed science fiction like The Fifth Wave series by Rick Yancey, The Maze Runner series by James Dashner, and Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game.

The battle for Earth’s survival wages on. Read the rest of the series: #4: The Fall of Five, #5: The Revenge of Seven, #6: The Fate of Ten, and #7: United as One.

Don’t miss the first book in the brand new I Am Number Four spin-off series: Generation One.

"I'm not a huge sci-fi fan, but although this series is good, it had its slow moments that I kinda just sped through. Some characters I like more than others and the POV changes between several characters. So I was more interested in reading some sections than others. Also whenever there's a change in POV the font changes but you always have to read a couple of lines to figure out who it is. Overall I enjoyed it especially if you like action and fight scenes and I can't wait til the 4th book comes out in August."

" The Rise of Nine is the latest installment in the wonderful "Lorien Legacies" series by Pittacus Lore. The series is set in our modern day world and revolves around Four, an alien teenager from a dead planet called Lorien, fighting to protect the world against an evil alien race with the help of the last remaining members of his race - all teens just like him, born and bred to fight the vicious Mogidorians. I have read and enjoyed the first two books in the series, I Am Number Four and The Power of Six. The series isn't necessarily a favorite of mine books aren't especially profound or incredibly life-changing. They're nothing ground-breakingly original, but I still enjoy them - because, well, they're fun. After all, who doesn't enjoy a tale of evil aliens? The characters are fresh and easy to relate to, the plot is easy to follow, and the dialogue rarely gets boring. This book is perfect if you're finishing a long, challenging book and are looking for a light, easy read. "

" Finally- more suspense! I liked this book the most out of the trilogy. Once again, the rapidly-changing perspective from different characters; writing in this style does make the experience more memorable overall. I enjoyed the addition of new characters as the group nears their final battle! I did not like the ending of the book- I don't see how an enemy could so easily escape from a battle and not be pursued. "

" Monsters, and aliens, and earth. Oh my! This continuation of the saga of the Loriens leaves us waiting for the next installment. Most of the teen would-be saviors of Lorien have finally teamed up to battle the evil Mogadorians and save Earth on the way to reclaim their own planet. What teen (or anyone for that matter) WOULDN'T dream of the powers of invisibility, teleportation, and strength (among others)? The US government is involved with the bad guys, which makes things even more interesting. "

" These books just keep getting better and better. While it does take me some time to get re-used to the way they're written, it doesn't detract from the great storyline that is involved. These is definitely an action packed book but I do enjoy the brief moments of peace that add to the plot line, just as much as the battles that the group comes up against. I will be eagerly awaiting the next book. "

" FRUSTRATING! Great book. It's frustrating because I forgot much of what happened in the first and second books waiting for this one to come out. now I have to wait 8 months for the 4th book to come out to read more. I had a hard time putting it down. Can't wait for #4 to come out! "

" I can't suspend my disbelief long enough to enjoy this series. The characters and the universe is so vaguely described that everything the characters and their enemies do comes as a complete surprise. You get a lot of justification post-facto instead of universe building. "
