The ultimate secret. The ultimate agent.

Nathaniel Cade returns. For 140 years, Nathaniel Cade has been the President’s Vampire, sworn to protect and serve his country. Cade’s existence is the most closely guarded of White House secrets: a superhuman covert agent who is the last line of defense against nightmare scenarios that ordinary citizens only dream of. When a new outbreak of an ancient evil—one that he has seen before—comes to light, Cade and his human handler, Zach Barrows, must track down its source. To “protect and serve” often means settling old scores and confronting new betrayals … only a centuries-old predator can.

Listener Opinions

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Richard | 1/24/2014

" The first book in the series was fun but this is just silly. The conspiracy is so huge it would be easier to list those not in the know than those that are. I am happy to suspend disbelief for an enjoyable read but this asks far too much. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Vickie | 1/24/2014

" Highly excellent and more than a vampire against the paranormal world story. Cannot wait to read more of this series and anything else by this author. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Elizabeth | 1/20/2014

" Cool story on audio- sometimes hard to listen to as was graphic in parts. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Rick Fisher | 1/19/2014

" This was a great sequel to Blood Oath...the action keeps ya going...the comraderie between Cade and Zach is great...theres talk of movie rights for this series...I think it would work "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Dani Beckman | 1/17/2014

" really enjoy the style of this book.... after reading Blood Oath, I saw the new one coming out and that Chris was signing at a local bookstore near my best friends home (across the country), I had her go out there, get it and send to me! awesome and easy read! Now I am sending back to her to read..... "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Dave | 1/5/2014

" Fun! A mash-up of historical fiction, espionage thriller, horror, camp and delightfully dark humor. While the plot is purely incredible, the characters, relationships and action provoke a willingly suspension of disbelief. Cade's anachronistic slang is funny and charming. Flashbacks add depth and interest in a cotton candy conspiracy way. The use of popular fiction / cultural icons for cameo appearances added to the whimsical humor peppering the thrill ride with a greater variety of humor. Within the spoofiness there are provocative philosophical questions about friendship, free will and the possibility of change and redemption. Fans of action hero thrillers and Buffy-verse might enjoy this series. I look forward to future installments. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Mscout | 1/4/2014

" Second verse was as good as the first. A little darker, and a conspiracy theorist's dream. Impatiently awaiting the third installment. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Tricia | 1/2/2014

" It was just not as appealing as the first in the series...the "monsters" just did not do it for me.... "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 SpyNavy | 12/27/2013

" Great story, with a continuation of the overarching storyline. Interesting take on the buddy cop/agents trope. Fun, fast read, the author doesn't try to make the book anything other than what it is - a summer blockbuster movie style novel. Worth your time and money. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Shawn | 12/21/2013

" Christopher Farnsworth comes into his own with the second book of the series. Much better written, plotted and detailed than the first. This novel really delivers borrowing alot on Lovecraftian monsters the books hums along with great action and horror. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Sheree Ross | 12/7/2013

" Well............this was surely different! Probably more a 2.5 star read, but I'll go the extra 1/2 for the writing style. Nathaniel Cade is a very original character, and this was a one of a kind tale. I don't know that I'll read more of these, but glad I gave this one a shot. "

" Wow! Another 5-star author! Who better to protect the president than a 140 year old vampire who's sworn an oath? The best thing about finding new authors with kickass series is you always have a wonderful book waiting in your library. How have I never found this genre before? "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Coki | 5/11/2011

" There was ALOT going on in this sequel. As a great man said "lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you." political intrigue, Blackwater, conspiracies -- and that is just the actual humans. But the over the top ness is part of the fun! Non-stop action at its heart. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Barbara | 5/8/2011

" Not quite as good as the first one, but excellent nonetheless. "

About the Author
Author Christopher Farnsworth

Christopher Farnsworth is a screenwriter and has now written the first three novels in the President’s Vampire series. He has worked as a staff writer, columnist, and investigative reporter, and his work has appeared in the New York Post, New Republic, and Washington Monthly. He has sold his first script, The Academy, to the MGM studio.

About the Narrator

Bronson Pinchot, an Audie Award–winning narrator and Audible’s Narrator of the Year for 2010, received his education at Yale University, which filled out what he had already received at his mother’s knee in the all-important areas of Shakespeare, Greek art and architecture, and the Italian Renaissance. He restores Greek Revival buildings and appears in television, film, and on stage whenever the pilasters and entablatures overwhelm him.
