"When I first started reading this book I was grumpy that I didn't have the prior book (The Angel) as they kept referring to the adventures in it. But I quickly got over that as she introduced the characters and I found myself involved in the book and couldn't wait to see what happened next. It is a good story with spies and cops and drama and adventure and of course a little romance and flirtation. I wish I had the next book but I am definitely not buying any new books until I finish the 300+ I have on my shelves! . . . off to try another new author."

No one does romantic suspense better!
— Janet Evanovich" International spies, M16, FBI agents, Boston PD, confidential informants, etc., etc., etc. - all engaged in a cat and mouse game with a megalomaniac bent on revenge. From Ireland to Boston to Las Vegas to Maine; kidnappings, murder, bombings and family mysteries - all play a role in the unfolding of this suspenseful tale. Extremely well written, but a little difficult to keep all the players straight and to figure out who was on which side. Nevertheless, I couldn't put this book down in anticipation of the outcome. "
— Linda, 2/10/2014" picked up the wrong book but its an ok read "
— Nicole, 2/9/2014" I enjoyed it very much. "
— Megan, 2/5/2014" I'm still liking the series. It seems to be about a different member of the family each time, but there's always a satisfying romance in each, and it always touches base with previous characters. "
— Okie, 1/8/2014" I really liked this book, even after finishing it and finding out it was the 3rd one in a a series. woops, I'll have to read the widow and the angel now!! Hope they are as good!! "
— Hope, 12/26/2013" Pretty good, but I wish I had known that this is the THIRD in a series. I'm sure it would have made more sense and been more enjoyable. Phooey! I did like it, though. "
— Kw, 12/16/2013" I interviewed Carla about her newest work... but sadly hadn't read any of her novels, so I started here. I REALLY like characters she's created and now she's hooked me. I want to reserve others in the series. "
— Arica, 10/9/2013" Good - a little confusing at times keeping all the players straight and you have to read the first two in the series for it to make much sense. LIke the "Cold" books a little better, but this was OK "
— Sandi, 8/22/2013" Had too many characters and was constantly referring to how they were related to each other, finally gave up and read end of book. "

— Janetlee, 4/17/2013" Great page turner. Nice mixture of suspense and romance. "
— Kelly, 1/8/2013" The Mist is a thoroughly good read. Carla Neggers continues the saga of the Irish kinsmen by expanding the story of The Angel into this tale from different character's perspective. The storyline is filled with intrigue and suspense. I couldn't put it down. I think I enjoyed it better than the Angel. "
— Marsha, 12/9/2012" I think starting on book three was a huge negative. (Didn't realize it was the third book in a series) This whole book just went in one ear and out the other. Nothing stuck. "

— Kelly, 5/10/2012" There were too many characters to keep up with. I never did figure out who some of them were for sure. "
— Glenda, 10/23/2011" I liked this okay, but it was almost a miss. I think with a little tweeking this could have been a great book but did not make it for me. "
