" Maybe if I had read the first book in the series I would have enjoyed this more but it was very hard to enjoy just starting with this book. "

" This is the third and final in the Black Falls series. I have read other Carla Negger's books and was prepared for the reserve of the characters, but it seems extreme in this novel. Being the third in a series and being the first one I've read in the series, I expected some difficulty in connecting to the story and the characters, but Cold Dawn had so many characters and so many storylines that it was doubly difficult. Rose is a search and rescue volunteer and dog trainer. She is the youngest and has 3 older protective brothers. The main story centers around the search for a serial arsonist who has killed friends in their town of Black Falls, Vermont. Nick comes to Vermont ostensibly to follow up on the arson case but also to follow up with Rose. They had one encounter about 8 months previously when they were both vulnerable. Once there, more dead bodies start turning up and the heat is on to find the killer. And the heat is on between Rose and Nick. Or not so much. It's sort of a cool walk. The whole book actually has a cool feel to it. It's interesting but not doesn't grab you. Though I will definitely go back and read the others in the series. "

" Enjoyed it and easy to keep track of characters - as this is my car/purse book, this is important. Suspense, adventure and a fast read. However, should have saved this book for summer - didn't need the realistic discriptions of a cold VT winter - not with this winter. "

" I didn't read the first two books of this series and consequently was lost reading this book; the plot depended heavily on events & relationships I can only assume happened in the other books. "

" I didn't realize this was the last book in a series when I began reading it. There are a lot of characters to keep track of with backstories that must've been fleshed out in the previous books. I enjoyed the story, but there were just too many subplots to keep up with. Good book, but not enough to motivate me to read the others in the series. "

" It was good, however, I'm sure it would have been better if I would have read the two books before it in the series. I've always liked the author's books that I've read but I don't think this was up to par with the previous books of hers that I have read. "

" This was a little confusing because I apparently missed one of the books in the series. My recommendation is to read the books in ordcer. That will make the story easier for any reader to follow. Otherwise you are left very confused with the characters and plot that ties all 4 of the books together. "

" Read this without having read the other books in the series, and was occasionally bewildered by references to earlier events. Clearly this is a series that should be have been read in order! Neggers evokes the rural Vermont setting well, but aside from that, this is pretty generic romantic suspense. "
