"I enjoyed it. It snagged me from the get-go and that's actually quite hard to do as I'm a picky reader. I bounced between the two characters, cheering for one and then the other - it kept me on my toes and I found myself sighing with contentment as soon as I read the last page."

" Love this foray into historial romance. Ending was too quick, but loved it anyway "
— Terese, 2/18/2014" I have to say that at first I picked up the book at the library, and after the first chapter put it away because I found it boring. Weeks later I saw the audio book, and I thought I could give it a try. Lorilei King does an awesome job bringing the story to life and makes it sound really charming. Plus I am listening to it in the car, and it does not need my full attention, like reading the book does. I have been well entertained by the story, even though it is nothing out of the ordinary. Rich girl is supposed to marry Lord, but prefers the guy who is not appropriate. The ending is also rather predictable. But if you want a pleasant read with a really great narrator, this audio book works just fine. "
— Claudia, 2/12/2014" This one surprised me. Set in 1894 in New York and London. Quite entertaining. "
— Annmarie, 2/4/2014" Several typos in the book...very disjointed! "
— Luvredandwhite, 1/31/2014" Refreshing and surprising. A quick light read. "
— Darlene, 1/22/2014" If you are looking for the normal Janet Evanovich writing put this book back on the shelf. Book lacks humor, and is just plain boring I gave up and quit reading. If this is her new style she will have lost a reader. If I wanted a boring period romance I could have found that elsewhere I came for the zany characters and the wit. Bring it back with the next book please! "
— Amanda, 1/19/2014" Definitely not my style. I was left thinking, "that was it!?" "
— Briana, 1/17/2014" Mindless fluff..it entertained me while I was sick. Standard Evanovich. "
— Sue, 1/17/2014" A nice change of pace for me. Fluff! "
— Tracy, 12/25/2013" I was looking for a little more of a developed plot. It was ok, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend this for my friends- kind of a slow book. "
— Becky, 12/13/2013" Well that was unexpected! Not the usual Evanovich fare, but very entertaining none the less. "
— Sherry, 12/12/2013" Easy read, pretty enjoyable. "
— Theresa, 8/4/2013" A cheesy historical romance and I loved every minute of it! "
— Lauren, 7/15/2013" If I could give this book a quarter of a star I would. Ms. Evanovich's writing is usually at least entertaining. This was not. "
— Rene', 6/25/2013" Good, fast read. Ended abruptly. Cute. "
— Nancy, 5/14/2013" Silly farce. "
— Agnes, 3/28/2013" Cute little story with a few twists in the plot to keep it interesting. I listened to the audio book and wish they'd had a narrator with more British experience who can do American voices as well. Barbara Rosenblat would have been fabulous! "
— Annette, 3/8/2013" typical "romance" novel. boring. Definitely NOT Stephanie Plum "
— Michelle, 3/1/2013" It was a fun, light read and I enjoyed Caroline's take on things- especially chocolate cake! "
— Jenn, 1/11/2013" easy read, characters were engaging and likable. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good book to laze away the afternoon with "
— Patty, 12/19/2012" My favorite book Janet has written so far!!! Fabulous! "
— Ginger, 12/17/2012" I loved this book!! The characters were very well developed and the book was written very well!! I couldn't put it down! "
— Dena, 12/7/2012" This book didn't scream Evanovich at all. It was a nice simple historical romance. "
— Kelli, 11/30/2012" Light reading and enjoyable "
— Tonni, 11/23/2012" Fun read. Not in the era I would thought of for her. I really enjoyed it. "
