"I loved Gillian's independence and how she approached Richard and proposed to him. It was an good read on the romance side, I loved how Richard was living two lives as it were and how it ended with Gillian confusing him and playing with his mind! I didn't give this a 5 out of 5 because I felt something was wanting in the intensity of the romance. It was sweet but not as intense or as emotionally powerful as I wanted. I did love the twist at the end about the special paintings Gillian had though so that redeemed the story somewhat in what I thought was lacking."

" I had read the first in this series several years ago, and it made no difference to me picking up the connections in the series. "
— Diane, 1/31/2014" The idea of this book sounded promising and the first few pages were nice, but then it all fell apart. I don't get how this book got such a high score when even the sex scenes are boring. If you liked the two identities idea - read the Beast by Judith Ivory. If you liked the husband list idea - read Almost Heaven by Judith McNaught. The Husband List is a waste of time. "
— Karate1kid, 1/9/2014" This book was okay. I didn't get any emotions from it, so it felt lacking in the romance for me. I missed the humor from the first book and found myself just skimming through. "
— Pton, 1/8/2014" It was a fluffy, quick read but fun. "
— Heather, 1/7/2014" Love it when I read a book and find myself laughing out loud! This book does that! Very good! "
— LaNita, 1/6/2014" Having a husband list was a great plot. Another one of Victoris'a great stories. "
— Paisley, 12/19/2013" Easy reading and good, I had to finish it. "

— Mzpastrychef, 8/3/2013" Loved it. Not as steamy as a Lisa Kleypas but a very fun read. About a woman who will inherit a great deal but she needs to wed by her 30th birthday or lose it all. After having 2 male friends help her create a husband list she chooses one of the men and proposes to him. Very fun. "
— Lisarenee, 7/21/2013" too many secrets between Gillian and Richard, and not enough tension. "
— Jennifer, 6/21/2013" The Husband ListVictoria Alexander "
— Raquel, 3/12/2013" Gillian and Richard's story was a lot of fun. They were both just delightful and the way Gillian turned Richard's deception back on him was just perfect! I think this entire series will be great fun to read. "
— Donna, 2/24/2013" I enjoyed this read very much - engaging characters and a believable Regency setting. "
— Libra_rian, 2/17/2013" Fairly run of the mill Regency romance. Gillian Marley needs to marry to inherit a fortune; Richard Shelbrooke needs money to restore his family fortunes. The themes of art and gender are better in theory than in execution here, and the pacing is a weird mix of overly drawn out and rushed. "
— Joy, 2/9/2013" I've had this book for years, but for some reason never read it. Fast moving and fun! Loved both characters, as well as the secondary characters in the book. Yet another book I was up till the middle of the night because I had to finish it. "
— Evelyn, 1/17/2013" This was an ok read, although it didn't engage me as this type of story usually does. I'll probably try this author again, though. "
