Publisher Description

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Blue Zone comes this second mesmerizing thriller about a woman who must unravel the secrets from her dead husband's past.

An explosion rips through New York City's Grand Central Station, destroying the train Karen Friedman's husband, a successful hedge fund manager, is riding in to work. On the same day, there's a suspicious hit-and-run accident in Karen's hometown of Greenwich, Connecticut, and Ty Hauck, a detective, finds a clue that shockingly connects the two seemingly unrelated events.

Months later, two men show up at Karen's home digging into Charles' business dealings. Hundreds of millions of dollars are missing—and the trail points squarely to Charles. Suddenly Karen, with Hauck, steps into a widening storm of hedge fund losses, international scams and murder. And as the investigations converge, these two strangers are pulled into a twisted—and deadly—conspiracy. With its breakneck pacing, plentiful twists, compelling characters, and abundant heart, The Dark Tide confirms Andrew Gross' place as a master storyteller at the top of his game.

"'The Dark Tide' is the first solo book I have read by Andrew Cross. As with most thrillers this isn't going to change your live, just give you a good solid read. You will cheer on the heros and boo the protagonists, I look forward to reading other works by Andrew Cross."

Quotes

    — Los Angeles Times
  • “Noteworthy…Half of a thriller-writing team with some guy named James Patterson, Gross breaks away with his second solo novel. He is evidently done with the training wheels.”

    — Columbus Dispatch
  • “Gross…mixes murder, suspense, sex and romance as capably as his mentor in his assured second solo thriller.”

    — Publishers Weekly
  • “This is a tightly written corporate-style thriller very much in the mold of Joseph Finder, with a likable protagonist and a story that combines traditional thriller elements with a more gentle, emotional subplot.”

    — Booklist
  • “The Dark Tide is one of those books for which a tidy resolution seems impossible, but the author knocks it out of the park…Leo makes it easy to get lost in a good book.”

    — AudioFile
  • “Gross mesmerizes in this tale of a family’s seemingly perfect life that’s altered in an instant when they become involved in a life-threatening mystery filled with twists. There’s edge-of-your-seat suspense as Gross gradually shows how the pieces of this brilliant puzzle fit together.”

" The book's plot reminded me of a typical murder/mystery television show or movie. But even so, I was kept guessing as to who the bad guy was until I was will into the book. By that time, I didn't want to stop reading! The action flowed smoothly from one event to another and the characters seemed very real and were easy to identify with. I enjoyed the read very much and it was a great escape from work at lunch time. I would definitely read another Andrew Gross novel. "

" After reading his latest thriller, I'm beginning to work my way through Gross's oeuvre and it appears that his style has improved through practice...this book was published in 2008 and lacks the dialogue skills of his more recent offerings. It's a good yarn, anyway, another page-turner. "
