Not your typical boring diet book, this is a tart-tongued, no-holds-barred wake-up call to all women who want to be thin. With such blunt advice as "Soda is liquid Satan" and "You are a total moron if you think the Atkins Diet will make you thin," it's a rallying cry for all savvy women to start eating healthy and looking radiant. Unlike standard diet books, it actually makes the listener laugh out loud with its truthful, smart-mouthed revelations. Behind all the attitude, however, there is solid guidance. Skinny Bitch espouses a healthful lifestyle that promotes whole grains, fruits, and vegetables and encourages women to get excited about feeling "clean and pure and energized."

"I bought this book after reading a chapter or two at a friend-of-friend's house when I found it on her bookshelf. I was so intrigued that i just HAD to buy it and read it. And i wasn't disappointed. This is the book that convinced me to eat vegetarian, and I've kept advice from this book in mind and have been avoiding meat since November 2010!"

— Energy Times“Many priceless-yet-unprintable dictums certainly make you laugh in a way few diet books can.”
— iVillage.com“Incredibly informative and entertaining…Tough-love talk mixed with facts and common sense. Freedman and Bamouin speak to the reader like a friend who isn’t afraid to tell you what’s on her mind. They back up their arguments by citing study after study and take the technical talk out of the discussion so as to make a more easily digested point.”
— Hartford (CT) Courant“This 224-page gem…tells it like it is.”
— Austin American Statesman“What are you waiting for, you moron? Go buy this book!”
— Florida Today“A cynical, foul-mouthed read with only good intentions that could get you into your best bikini shape for this pool season…The book’s conversational tone makes for an interesting and entertaining read—not simply just dos and don’ts of dieting and exercise like most weight-loss plan guides.”
— Daily Athenaeum (West Virginia University)" Great Book. Minus all the unnecessary profanity this is a great book. Truly a frank conversation between you and the authors. I can honestly say that I changed my eating habits after reading this book. "
— Jasmine, 2/20/2014" bc now i have not had a chez buger since my bday :( "
— Kim, 2/14/2014" This book was absolutely hysterical, yet very informative. Rory Freedman has a way of giving important information to the reader while keeping their attention by using a funny, yet fresh way to do it. "
— Jennifer, 2/12/2014" I just finished reading this book on the recommendation of my hair dresser. I haven't gone vegan as the bitches who wrote this book suggest but I have cut back on eating meat and dairy lately. The descriptions of meat factories were very disturbing and hard to read. "
— Kim, 1/28/2014" Sigh. I went into this book with an open mind. Some of their points were really good. For example, they totally sold me on staying away from sugar (as much as possible), and completely on chemical sweetener. (Btw - Stevia is Skinny Bitch approved!) But some of their assertions were just not backed up by science. E.g., (paraphrased) is not a scientific argument. Then in the last chapter they go way off the deep end and recommend fasting. But they admit in the book that they wrote it for animal rights (although it's not marketed that way) and they definitely got their point across on that front. The chapter on what goes on at slaughter houses is disturbing. "
— Jill, 1/25/2014" Two model industry wannabe nutritionists got famous enough to sell a few books by berating "fat chicks." FYI, cussing for attention and throwing the word "bitch" around does not make you cool. Is there a way I can give this negative stars? "
— Mari, 1/10/2014" Although, I found the voice to be harsh & crass; I have to admit that when I got past it this book helped to change my life. "
— Lianne, 11/28/2013" As a biochemist, I found this book completely offensive and unresearched. I don't consider pro-vegan websites scientific sources. "
— Victoria, 11/24/2013" Definitely a game changer for me. One of the first books I read that made a strong case for going Vegan. Not for the sensitive as the authors are very blunt with a sense of humor that isn't for everyone. There are some Vegan swaps in the book and references to other invaluable resources. "
— Keita, 11/23/2013" Very graphic.... "
— Noelleangela, 11/21/2013" Liked the book, makes you look at how animals our processed for our fulfillment. "
— Camillels29, 10/28/2013" The beginning of my life change..... "
— Kristi, 5/29/2013" oh wow, I think it is the funniest! Loved reading it! "
— Mary, 1/25/2013" Controversial but informative. "
— Alana, 12/4/2012" Don't know about the other stuff but def forcing me think about turning vegan!! Some parts in the book not for the mild hearted :) "
— Anushuka, 8/1/2012" Great read helped me alot during my journey to veganism "
— Lisa, 6/12/2012" I should've known by the title and the reviews that I wouldn't like it. From the swearing to the abusive language it was hopeless. We should not aspire to be skinny but healthy at a healthy weight. "
— Kristy, 12/9/2011" two points for witty. thumbs down for lack of substance. An hour read if that. Skinny Bitch, pass the tacos please. "
— Christine, 5/25/2011" Read this about 3 years ago. I enjoyed the sassiness of the writer. "
— Jessica, 5/21/2011" this book made some interesting points about how we don't need to eat dairy and meat. I also liked their diatribe about Nutrasweet. Not sure if I buy it all. "
— Martha, 5/14/2011" Definitely life-changing.....now living the vegetarian life and living healthy!!! "
— Margie, 5/10/2011" Eh. I didn't finish it. Ok for when I want to don my hairshirt, but not very inspirational. "
— Katie, 5/8/2011" sounds superficial
yet
it is rich with spirituality, consciousness and intelligence in every page.

a little rough, true

but I now choose to other than participate using slaughtered beings to raise my consciousness "
— Kimberly, 5/2/2011" It's interesting and made me consider changing some of my eating habits, but some of the things in the book seem to go a bit too far. It's still worth a read. "
— Erika, 5/1/2011" I thought it was very informative and the data really helped me make some changes that i was already thinking of making. I didn't love the sassy way of writing but i think it kept me reading and not bored, some of the sassy-ness was funny. It's a quick eye opening read. "
