Welcome to Paradise. When a stranger named Marsuvees Black appears in Paradise, he brings with him a message of hope and love. Or is it death and hate? Perhaps neither–perhaps both. He seems to know too much about the town’s many unspoken secrets, and he himself holds the greatest secret of them all. As black clouds and sandstorms envelop the town, it becomes almost impossible to get in or out. It quickly becomes apparent that Paradise is being isolated for a reason. But why? Ted Dekker’s latest adrenaline-laced thriller has been proclaimed as his most original, daring tale to date. A tale that will take you further than anything he’s ever written. A tale that will leave you wanting more.

"Classic Dekker. Good versus evil. Lots of action. I really enjoyed this once I got into it. It almost starts like a Stephen King novel. In fact Dekker kind of reminds me of King a little bit except that Dekker's heroes survive and always triumph in the end and King's sometimes don't."
— Mom (4 out of 5 stars)
“Spiritually thrilling.”
— Barnes & Noble, editorial review“Dekker impressively paces the novel, maximizing the suspense and intrigue by solving the novel’s myriad mysteries at the exact point reader will likely be guessing them…Dekker delivers his signature exploration of good and evil in the context of a genuine thriller that could further enlarge his already sizeable audience.”
— Publishers Weekly“Dekker dishes out a heaping helping of gut-level shocks. Meticulous plotting, haunting characters, and deep themes challenge the reader on every level. Compelling and disturbing.”
— RT Book Reviews (4½ stars, Top Pick!)" another great book from dekker. obvious christian background, but presents it so relevently. "
— Aimee, 2/17/2014" Oh my gosh-too weird. How he comes up with the stories makes me wonder sometimes. Got a little Gory "
— Christy, 2/16/2014" Fast paced, vivid imagery, and kind of creepy look at free will, what happens when evil is chosen, and what is the price of redemption. "
— Jc, 2/15/2014" Fits in with a few other books by Ted Dekker, the ending wasn't that great but the story was cool. "
— Jon, 2/10/2014" I don't normally stop reading a book. I push myself to finish it. This book I couldn't do that. It had parts where it caught my attention then other parts it was slow and I didn't want to read anymore. Sorry I just couldn't finish this book. I am disappointed in myself. "
— Irene, 1/24/2014" Kinda gross in a few parts, but otherwise a really neat book. "
— AbejaReina, 1/16/2014" stopped reading it... it just wasn't holding me... haven't read Dekker before, but have heard he's good... so I'll have to try another of his titles... "
— Joey, 1/8/2014" I find Dekker to be a great writer and easy to read. I love how he brings parts of some books into others. "
— Michael, 12/31/2013" The very first book I ever read of Ted Dekker! "
— Teddy, 12/27/2013" I was a bit confused in this book but now that I've read Saint and Sinner, I understand more about Showdown. Ted Dekker's imagination is really out there, but I am mad about his books. "
— Jenni, 11/30/2013" Really thought provoking.... "
— Charmian, 11/29/2013" What a great, fast paced, intriguing battle between good and evil! "
— Theland, 11/2/2013" Ted Dekker is a great writer, and this book was entertaining, however completely unrealistic as it is based on a lot of supernatural things. I recommend reading the Circle Trilogy before this book, but not necessary. "
— Jessica, 10/14/2013" The paradise novels are my favorite series of all of Dekker's books "
— Kattwamm, 9/30/2013" good. mindless. excitement. "
— Kyle, 4/7/2013" Absolutely creepy. A project with the best of intentions ends up like watching kids pull wings off flies. About the decisions we make, or not. "
— Cindy, 12/16/2012" Apparently I have a love/hate relationship with Mr Dekker. This one was a hate for me. "
— Chris, 5/3/2012" One of my favorite Ted Dekker books! It's dark and dramatic in a ridiculous way, as he always is. Can't help but love it. :P I also loved the end, which isn't normal for me and Dekker. I always have mixed feelings about his endings. "
— Mary, 3/3/2012" This one was a slow starter for me. About 200 pages in, it became a little more fast-paced. It ties into the Red, Black, & White trilogy as well as The Lost Books series by Dekker. "
— Jill, 1/2/2012" i've always enjoyed ted dekkers book so i knew i'd love this one "
— Padima, 11/17/2011" I can't say I enjoyed this book. Again, not bad overall. I guess I just got bored with Dekker as an author. His books just seemed to be the same plot line re-hashed with only the characters being changed. I don't know if I actually finished this or not, and that's saying something. "
— Carol, 11/10/2011" Dave really liked this book and wanted me to read it, so that is what I'm doing... ETA: It was okay. I had to struggle through a little bit. I got bored, but I do that, so maybe it's just me. I felt like I was constantly reminded of christianity and that annoyed me. "
— Ash, 9/25/2011" It was good. It wasn't The Circle, but it was good. Ted Dekker is definitely one of my top authors now! :) "
— Andrea, 7/15/2011" I'll finish this book in the far future. Right now, it kind of grossed me out. So, for now, I won't finish reading it. "
— Brooke, 6/17/2011" It started off queerly and weirdly, but by the end, the book made sense. It's like an allegory. "
— Jemimah, 5/22/2011" Ted Dekker never ceases to amaze me. He remains the one author that has me stumped as to what will happen next, and for that, I gave this book 5 stars. (that and I almost cried while reading this book, which is no small feat). "
— Angela, 5/16/2011" Audio Recording. It was an okay book but I didn't get too into it. I had already listened to #2 in the trilogy and was expecting Johnny Drake to be the hero. He definitely was not. Instead they made Samuel out to be Jesus. I will probably look into "
— Jake, 5/6/2011" My LORD... This IS the best book I've ever read, still to this date. Incredible. Read this. "
— Grant, 4/8/2011" This book made my skin craw! "
— Danny, 3/31/2011" At first (and as it went on), this seemed to me as a kinda creepy book. By the halfway point until the end, I couldn't put it down. I'm usually not much for strange books, but this one was pretty good. I'm glad I gave it a try! "
— Michelle, 3/17/2011" I could maybe give this a worse rating. But it had high points. It was pretty good... I wish thomas hunter would have been developed more "
— Nathan, 2/27/2011" Actual text from the book: <br/> <br/>"'But it's your right to decide what's right, right?' <br/>'My right?'" <br/> <br/>Enough said. "
— Kim, 2/9/2011" I read this book after all of the trilogy books (except Green which wasn't out yet) and all the side books that were connected to the trilogy so this was an amazing way to put several things together. Probably one of my favorites just because of all I connected through it. "
— Kirby, 1/4/2011" Disturbing and strange storyline. Links around to other books, which is interesting but confusing also. "
