"While Eric will never reach the heights of Robert Ludlum, he keeps improving in every book he writes. This master piece has tension throughout(has Bourne finally met his match with his best friend tasked to kill him) and ample twists and tales throughout-in its own right the book is a master piece. And the new characters introduced in the book can easily allow this series to continue in perpetuity. No Harry Potter like early termination here."

“A Jason Bourne thriller worthy of Robert Ludlum himself.”

— ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLYAs twisted, dark and exciting as the others.
— THE OKLAHOMAN on THE BOURNE SANCTION" This latest installment in this most famous of thriller series really gets a 3.5 star rating form me.This is the 9th book in the series. This is the 6th by EVL. Robert Ludlum (deceased) first introduced the series with the first 3 novels. The story begins with Jason Bourne's best, most trusted friend, Boris Karpov being ordered to kill Bourne. EVL has done an outstanding job taking over for Ludlum. He has brilliantly made the transition appear to be seamless. This latest book is cranmmed with action and suspense on every page. There are more twists and turns that you would find on a cork screw. You need a calcualtor to keep track of the body count.EVL is getting better with each new effort.I am personally a huge fan of this genre and I thoroughly enjoyed this read. This summer probably the two most famous literary spies of all time (James Bond & Jason Bourne)have gone head to head with two novels written by Jeff Deaver (007 Carte Blanche) and EVL. Having now read both books I will give this one the slightest of edges. "
— Don, 2/17/2014" So bad I couldn't finish it. "
— Linda, 2/10/2014" I found myself wandering off mentally all the time. This was a spy version of Tolkein. There was so much blah blah blah that I got bored all the time. Information overload. Characters with similar sounding names kept throwing me off. I have enjoyed Ludlum's books, but this was not Ludlum. I've read other Van Lustblader books not in the Bourne series, but this was not a good one. I would not reccomend this to anyone, but the audio narrator did a great job at it. "
— Scott, 1/25/2014" A great Bourne book! "
— Randolyn, 1/12/2014" A complete waste. "
— Chris, 1/1/2014" While Van Lustbader tells a great story, I still can't get over the feeling that this is NOT Ludlum's Bourne. The author has almost completely abandoned the duality conflict with David Webb. "
— Sheldon, 12/18/2013" Good beach book if you've been reading the Bourne series. Wish the movies, with Matt Damon, would catch up. "
— Hank, 12/12/2013" Very confusing. I'm thinking there was another book beforehand because the story refers from time to time to characters I haven't met yet. I didn't know who was who so I couldn't wait to finish the book. "
— Bill, 12/4/2013" got a lot better the more i read! "
— Perry, 12/2/2013" As emotionally engaging as reading a cereal box. "
— Michael, 11/30/2013" Just another Bourne book. Not good or bad. Just there. "
— Aaron, 11/29/2013" I picked this up in the airport because I forgot a book for my 5 hour flight. This was a good book. It got a bit confusing at times following the plot lines and connections, especially since I hadn't read the middle Bourne books (I think I've only read the first two). "
— Justin, 11/28/2013" It was ok, I wish the Bourne series played more along the lines of the original books. Not the worst of the new sequels but not the best either. "
— Phil, 11/26/2013" I do not think that Mr Van Lustbader did a good job. The first part of the book is confusing and too many (even if apparently) happen. And then, in a few pages, the end. I think that, in the past, he did a better job. Thank you. "
— Massimo, 9/19/2013" Come on, come all, Bourne fans unite! The trilogy continues with Jason Bourne fighting to save America today with the help of a Russian "friend/enemy". Truly a summer read. "
— Mary, 8/8/2013" An excellent thriller if not a bit bloody with a high body count. Lustbader carries on Ludlum's Bourne franchise, though the original character has changed alot. Lots and twists and turns. "
— Dave, 5/7/2013" Not bad, wrapped some stuff up in that one. Now we will have to see what the Imperative holds in store!!! Any guesses as to who comes back from the grave in this one?? "
— Andy, 4/8/2013" The Jason Bourne story continues and keeps up the pace with lots of action, intrigue, deception and betrayal. And don't forget death. There's never a dull moment with Jason, and there are new characters added to the mix as well. "
— Janet, 2/2/2013" Further and further from Ludlum's Bourne. The author should just make a break from the old stuff, and create a character with a new name, since this one has so little in common with the original. "
— Kelly, 1/18/2013" Eh! It started slow then felt like it was all thrown together at then end. It was just okay... "
— Kristina, 12/11/2012" RIP Robert Ludlum "
— John, 11/25/2012" Great book. Fast pace from the start. Now I must read the last eight books!!!! "
— Mario, 9/5/2012" Some of the books in the series are still decent...others just lack the Ludlum spark and their finish is lackluster. This is one such example of the latter. "
— Jon, 1/6/2012" Bourne does it again. Eric Van Lustbader has truly made this character his own, and every other important person in these stories has been the creation of the new author. Intrigue, back-stabbing, politics, spies, action - fun! "
— Jonathan, 1/3/2012" As usual alot of badies get offed, and Bourne takes a licking and keeps on ticking. "
— Malia, 9/26/2011" A nice addition to the Jason Bourne franchise. "
