"Van Lustbader picks up exceedingly well where Robert Ludlum left off. So often shadow writers who try to follow a great genre or series with their own sequels provide mere pale imitations or worse. Not so with this book. Ludlum fans will devour the fast action, intrigue and multiple paths this book provides so well. The aithor has used Ludlum's Bourne novels rather than the popular movies as his background for this story. As is so often the case the movies are great but Ludlum's original novels are SO much better! Some of van Lustbader's supporting characters are not overly developed and now and then the reader experiences a "yeah sure - as if that could really happen" moment but this is fast moving adventure not extraordinary literature. As an action adventure novel this one excels. A fantastic read for pure enjoyment."

“It's a hearty serving of meat and potatoes action adventure, just the sort of fare that both Ludlum's and Lustbader's fans relish.
— Publishers WeeklyLustbader remains a fine choice to fill Ludlum's large shoes, and he has delivered a work worthy of the Bourne legacy.
— USA Today" More nuanced plot than some other books of this genre. Fast paced, well written and thoroughly entertaining. "
— Chris, 2/10/2014" Ahhhh. This delivered from beginning to end. Looking forward to reading the next two. Hope movie plans for this next trilogy move forward. "
— Shireen, 1/14/2014" Quick read and fits well in the spy genera. However, fans of the original Bourne series, as written by Ludlum, will be a bit disappointed. I give it a 2 1/2 out of 4, whereas the original series easily gets a 4 out of 4. "
— Jeff, 1/14/2014" Reading this series out of order, though I know the basic story-line. This was a good read, and I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the series. "
— Nick, 1/10/2014" This is an execrable airport novel I only finished because I hate myself. "
— Jeremy, 1/1/2014" Not as good as the original trilogy, but better than expected. "
— Robert, 12/19/2013" I've only seen the movies so I can't compare it to Ludlum's original books. This is written by another author (the Ludlum estate appears to be franchising the Bourne brand). It's an easy read and kept me engaged, though the plot wasn't as complicated or as deep as other spy/action/thrillers. "
— Alan, 10/12/2013" It was okay. The author puts Bourne in situations in which he routinely gets his butt handed to him, which is a little out of character, but I guess that's okay. The action was also a little lacking compared to the original trilogy, but overall it's not a bad story. "
— Davin, 10/11/2013" A blot on the legacy of Robert Ludlum. "
— Childofhate, 9/2/2013" This was the last book my dad recommended to me to read. if you the bourne series you will like this, there are a few parts to the book which differ from the filsm which i found confusing at the start but good story. "
— Kirsty, 6/30/2013" Another nice twist at the end - I thought someone was going to have to die, but he allowed both to live and worked it out nicely. Tons of twists and double crosses!! I would read more of this author. "
— Elizabeth, 6/26/2013" Didn't like it that much as the Ludlum ones, still very entertaining, someone from the past comes to make Bourne's life more 'complete' "
— Eva, 6/5/2013" Not impressed. I could only suspend disbelief so long before it was too much. The basic storyline was good but the execution was flawed in many different ways. As a writer you are told to "show, don't tell." This book didn't follow that rule and POV was all over the place. Glad to be done with it! "
— Robert, 5/24/2013" Overall better than Bourne Ultimatum. But not as good as I had hoped. The different author has a different style and the story moved decidedly different. I am not sure I will finish the series at this point. "
— Slacker, 4/27/2013" I enjoyed this book, it was a light and exciting spy thriller. The Bourne character is a good vehicle for this type of thing and the author channels Ludlum very well. "
— James, 3/25/2013" This is the first in the new series of Jason Bourne novels written by Eric Van Lustbader at the request of Rober Ludlum's estate. I very good Bourne novel for all Jason Bourne fans "
— Larry, 2/6/2013" It has taken a long time to finish this book, it was hard work due to the fact didn't like the way it was written nor did i get to know the characters as I did with Robert Ludlum's books. I won't be reading anymore of the series. "
— Emma, 8/30/2012" Good, but kind of took forever to get there. "
— Teddy, 8/8/2012" Well written sequel by Eric Van Lustaber to Ludlum's original Triology "
— Jonathan, 6/21/2012" I absolutely love the Bourne novels. Even the later non Ludlum novels are superb. The plots are first rate and this one is no exception. The Bourne Legacy is an exciting griping read perfect for a holiday. "
— Jim, 6/11/2012" I think i generally just don't like it when new writers take story lines from other authors and perfectly good characters and make major changes. "
— Kassandra, 12/21/2011" It feels strange reading a book about Jason Bourne written by someone other than Ludlum. Not my favorite of the series for sure. "
— Stephanie, 12/20/2011" Mind-provoking. Lustbader has Ludlum's kick! "
— Rosemel, 9/18/2011" I enjoyed this book. It was full of action, intrigue, and the little spy tricks of the trade that made Jason Bourne such a popular character to begin with. "
— Jim, 5/21/2011" Only read a few chapters of this very disappointing sequel to a brilliant trilogy. In the first chapter interesting characters of the original series die and the story and writing didn't seem to captivate me at all. To me this book isn't worthy of the Bourne name. "
— Joeri, 5/1/2011" I really like the Bourne series. While this one was ok, I really prefer the Ludlom books. Van Lustbader's attempt was a little too long and had more details than I wanted to know. "
— Erin, 2/26/2011" Amazing. I just could not put it down. Eric Van Lustbader I duff my hat for you "
— Nneka, 1/12/2011" I just don't care for Lustbader's writing, can't seem to get into any of his work. "
— John, 1/4/2011" unputdownable.. khan vs bourne.. lustbader at his best "
— Arun, 12/30/2010" I did not like how he treated the character as just another CIA operative. I did not like that he had joined/merged the Bourne/David personalities prior to the traumatic event at the end that would have accomplished it. This new series is pale and tepid compared to the originals. "
— Arthur, 12/8/2010" This is the first in the new series of Jason Bourne novels written by Eric Van Lustbader at the request of Rober Ludlum's estate. I very good Bourne novel for all Jason Bourne fans "
— Larry, 10/15/2010" Not as good as 1st 3, but an action packed good read. "
— Erika, 9/28/2010" Doesn't compare to Ludlum's Bourne books, but still a nice novel. "
— Lauro, 9/13/2010" This was my favorite out of all 8 or 7 books.. "
— Ashley.h, 8/26/2010" Didn't bother finishing. The plot was transparent and the writing very awkward. This is the second novel I have tried of a dead author's character brought back to life by a ghost writer, and hated both. Are any worth reading? "
— Steve, 8/24/2010" * same review for series.

Good series, I love the old school spy crap like how they have to use pay phones and faxing is all high-tech.

Nothing like the movies don't expect them to be.
"
— John, 7/27/2010" First read of the bourne series from this author, took a lil getting used to, but he followed Robert Ludlum closely. "
— Ryan, 7/21/2010" Well written sequel by Eric Van Lustaber to Ludlum's original Triology "
