Jason Bourne needs to regain his life as David Webb so he accepts an invitation from his beloved mentor, Dominic Specter, to join the linguistics department at Georgetown. It’s a relief to leave the Bourne identity behind, but Jason soon finds himself in a life-or-death confrontation where every move might be his last.

Specter tells him that a former student and son of his old friend was killed by Muslim extremists known as the Eastern Brotherhood. Their leader is a man named Semian Icoupov, and he must be stopped because his next terrorist target is believed to be right here in America.

While Jason is busy pursuing Icoupov in Russia, he’s become a target himself. Inside CI, a battle is brewing for control over the agency. In order to show the incompetence of its current director, two Pentagon operatives plan to accomplish what CI never could—hunt Bourne down and destroy him.

" Entertaining, but ultimately disappointing. Lustbader's Bourne lacks the complexity of Ludlum's Bourne. "

" Sorry. This was a slog to finish. Not the best of the series. "

" Lustbader brings things to life, and keeps Bourne going. Rich character developement and twists and turns made it hard to put down. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Donna Halloran | 2/14/2014

" I love the Bourne series so I was pretty excited about this. It was good, but I think my expectations were too high. "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 TAMI | 2/5/2014

" Read via book on CD. The Bourne novels have gotten progressively worse, and this author definitely does not have the writing talent of Robert Ludlum. This book had a very weak plot and several random plots that were barely connected to the story, and one that had absolutely nothing to do with the story. Nothing ever tied together, and the end was boring and anti-climactic. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Josh | 2/3/2014

" Pretty good, lots of twists and turns. Seems that the book is a little on the fanciful side for my tastes, but I suppose it would be really hard to keep up the reputation of Jason Bourne "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Deb | 1/19/2014

" This is the fifth book in the Bourne Series. The last two are not written by Robert Ludlum and are not quite as good but Lustbader does a good job because I don't want to put the book down. He jumps between characters every couple of pages and I can't wait to see how they are all related. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Scott | 11/15/2013

" Mildly entertaining - The Bourne "franchise" apparently passed to other author(s) - this one is by Eric Van Lustbader (what a great name; should be writing bodice rippers). I actually prefer the movies to the books. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Kathy Davie | 11/12/2013
