"I have to say this is the first Christian/romance/thriller that I've ever read, and I was very surprised that I liked it. It was free on Kindle, and I was in a hotel room on a business trip and not sure what to read next. Chapters alternate between Donnetta a married senior citizen and Kai, a young single gal who works on a cruise ship. They end up trapped together during a hurricane and find their way to Donneta's hometown. They both have to find their faith and love again. It sounds totally cheesey as I describe it, but I like Ms. Wingate's writing style and her characters. There are some good moral lessons in the book that are subtle, as opposed to some Christian novels that get really preachy."

“Narrated in turns by Donetta and Kai, popular and versatile Wingate’s exciting, often humorous tale realistically captures the chaos and heroism of small-town America in the throes of disaster as well as a can-do attitude in the aftermath.”
— Booklist" I did not read the first two books in the series but I do not feel like that was a problem as I understood all that was happening. However, I feel like the first 350 pages gave a story and then in five pages it was completed - lots left hanging. Just so so. "
