“Coben adroitly applies the fundamental rules of thrillerdom (offer a raft of potential villains; keep the action moving at breakneck speed) in this highly entertaining novel…a page-turner!” —Publishers Weekly

"This was a great murder mystery type novel. It is focused on a handful of people who are all connected to an AIDS Clinic. Someone seems to be targeting the Clinic and it is hard to figure out who or why. There is a big twist at the end. It was an easy read and hard to put down!"
— Kerry (4 out of 5 stars)
" Reads more like a bad Robin Cook novel. Glad Coben refined his skills in later books. "
— Karen, 2/19/2014" Although I usually enjoyed Harlan Coben's mysteries this one was terrible. Pass on it if you're a fan. "
— Karen, 2/18/2014" I loved this book. Harlen Coben doesn't disappoint. I liked the twists and turns and suprise whodunnit at the end. "
— Renee, 2/16/2014" Great book with new characters. Coben's books are always an easy / fun read. "
— Dan, 2/11/2014" really closer to a 3.5 rating. this is a reprinting of a story he wrote in 1991, so you can tell that he has to set the context for the medical/political world of AIDS. even though it seems a bit clunky in spots and far fetched in other, he is a GREAT storyteller and i love to read his stuff. "
— Aleisha, 1/22/2014" I didn't realize this was an older book of Coben's until I'd gotten started. It's not bad, but it's clearly not up to the level of Coben's non-series crime novels of the last 10 years or so. The story is well-paced, but ultimately preposterous. One thing--Coben sure can explain pain better than anybody I've ever read. That's apparently not a new skill. "
— Don, 1/12/2014" Sad and scarey at the same time. "
— Sherri, 1/7/2014" Wow, Harlan Coben never lets me down. A truly gifted writer, keeps me riveted to the book till the end, never wanting to put it down. This might be an early book of Coben's but still shines with his masterful story telling. No fan should miss this book, a must read for anyone. "
— Ellie, 12/31/2013" I really enjoyed reading this book. but I am a big fan of Harlan Coben and most of his books are interesting and well written. Some mean nasty people in this book and its just like the real world. "
— Jill, 12/12/2013" Even though the author states it is one of his earlier writings which he did not change for its release now I found it enjoyable. Now I am keen to read some of his later works as this is the first of his books I've read. "
— Kathy, 12/4/2013" A thriller about a cure for HIV. Extremely interesting to see what people do to get enough money to fund their research, how far they go. "
— Vera, 11/30/2013" fantastic like all other harlan coben books - despite being a reprint after 20 years, I still couldn't put it down and it did not feel dated at all - i can't wait for stay close to come out in March ! "
— Jamie, 11/30/2013" I have read better by this author, but as far as medical thrillers go, it was fast paced and a quick read. Wasn't a big fan of the main characters. "
— Debbie, 11/22/2013" An early Harlan Coben and one I hadn't read before. A conspiracy thriller revolving around an apparent cure for aids. Quite effective and fast paced - ideal to read on the beach. "
— Simon, 8/18/2013" This was the first Harlen Cohen book I've read and it's made me want to read more! I understand it's one of his earlier books but it was very well written and such a page turner, even if the plot was just a bit bonkers at times. Recommended for any fans of crime fiction. "
— Steven, 7/16/2013" typical harlan coben novel. very quick read. some twists. some turns. good book overall. if you're a afan of his style and other novels you'll enjoy this one as well. "
— Freddy, 9/30/2012" Excellent - except for the fact that it was a 1991 reprint. Dated material, but the story was good. "
— Peggy, 9/8/2012" I understand my friend Violet's addiction to this author. "
— Cherylck, 8/21/2012" Bad... really dated & one of his first books. Just bad. "
— Michelle, 6/12/2012" Its an old book written in the authors infancy...but its a new book with a new take on an old subject. Does one give it a 4 or a 3. I liked this book and would have rated it a solid 3.5, but alas...no point fives for the taking. "
— James, 3/22/2012" This was a typical easy-to-read Coben book. The plot was late 80's to early 90's about the AIDS crisis so it was a little dated but still liked the characters and the plot moved along. "
— Karen, 2/23/2012" Harlan Coben is an outstanding writer. I can't believe that it's taken me so long to read one of his novels. Anyhow, I actually listened to this one- audiobook from the library- and it certainly made my daily commute a lot more enjoyable. A great "read" :) "
— Keith, 1/31/2012" Well written and held my interst and suspanse until the end. Can't resist Harlen Coben! "
— Bonnie, 1/14/2012" Nothing earth-shattering, but a good read...Kept me turning the pages...Pretty exciting thriller. "
— Sue, 11/8/2011" Well written and held my interst and suspanse until the end. Can't resist Harlen Coben! "
— Bonnie, 11/8/2011" Blah. Desperate for book in airport. Read in one sitting. Got me through the flight though. "
— Jennifer, 10/23/2011" I love Harlan Coben's books, but this was just ok. I have to admit, I was taken by surprise, but it still didn't have the humor and polish that I have enjoyed with his other books. "
— Kathy, 10/21/2011" this is a medical mystery. it was written about 20 years ago. while i enjoyed this book and it wasnt to dated. i enjoyed this book and even though it is 20 yrs old i would recomend it. "
— Peter, 10/18/2011" I think this is his second book. It is somewhat dated and not quite as polished as his later books but still the kind of suspenseful and gripping story that only he can write. I listened to this book which was narrated by one of my favorites, Scott Brick. "
— Cathy, 10/17/2011" I enjoyed this book even though it was old. It was suspenseful and intriguing. "
— Cheryl, 10/11/2011" A good read. One of his first that I missed when it was new.Except that it is a little dated you can see the development of what was to come from this author. "
