"This is the second book by David Baldacci I read, and I must admit, I like his style. He reminds me a lot of Tom Clancy, he knows his stuff and sticks to it. My only problem was with the narration...I found the voice was trying to sound too much like a game show host and was over pronouncing at times...his female voices were not great, but that's hard to do...all in all: I recommend. Good story!"

— Guardian (London)“[A] political thriller spiced with techno-wizardry…Baldacci’s depiction of the world of lobbyists and the internecine warfare of the FBI and CIA (complete with state-of-the-art spy gadgets and transmission-proof chambers) elevates the novel with details that can come only from careful research.”
— Amazon.com, editorial review“Solid suspense, pithy dialogue, and plenty of hot but tender sex scenes. A must for action fans and a guilty pleasure for everyone else.”
— BooklistPlenty of action...opens with a bang...a joy.

— People" This should have been a pretty decent story, but alas, I couldn’t get past the first few chapters. I found the narrator’s speech habit of ending every sentence with a breathy sigh to be really annoying. I played it for a couple of friends without suggesting my dislike of this affectation, and they picked it up immediately. Too bad. "
— Randy, 8/20/2024" Excellent as always from this author. I am close to finishing all his books now. "
— david, 9/4/2019" Another non stop thriller that could not be put down until the end. Loved it. Have read it twice. "
— Kaye, 3/1/2018" This was a challenge for nearly 13 hours. Story was decent, and much of the narration was good. However, the reader has a bad habit of ending words with a breathy emphasis. Gets really annoying after a while. It bothered both of us, but others may not hear the annoyance. "
— Will, 8/12/2016" Great story of just how deadly Washington politics can become when greed and not service to country are the vision of some. Mr. Baldacci does an excellent job of creating paper monsters the reader is hoping will come to some kind of end at the hands of the hero. "
