Publisher Description

The first book of the #1 New York Times bestselling series and the inspiration for the hit movie from Dreamworks!

John Smith seems like an ordinary teenager, living a normal life with his guardian Henri in Paradise, Ohio. But for John, keeping a low profile is essential, because he is not an ordinary teenager. He’s an alien from the planet Lorien, and he’s on the run. A group of evil aliens from the planet Mogadore, who destroyed his world, are hunting anyone who escaped.

Nine Loric children were sent to Earth to live in hiding until they grew up and developed their Legacies, powers that would help them fight back—and help them save us. Three of them are now dead. John is Number Four, and he knows he’s next….

Michael Bay, director of Transformers, raved: “Number Four is a hero for this generation.” This epic story is perfect for fans of action-packed science fiction like The 5th Wave series by Rick Yancey, The Maze Runner series by James Dashner, and Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game.

The battle for Earth’s survival wages on. Read all of the books: #2: The Power of Six, #3: The Rise of Nine, #4: The Fall of Five, #5: The Revenge of Seven, #6: The Fate of Ten, and #7: United as One.

Don’t miss the first book in the brand-new I Am Number Four spin-off series: Generation One.

"I chose the book, I Am Number Four from recently watching the movie. I Am Number Four follows the story of John Smith, an alien from Lorien. They run from their enemies, the Mogadorians. He is the fourth out of eight teenagers that have special abilities. The teens are protected by a charm, which makes the Mogadorians to kill them in order. John is number 4 and he tries to defeat the enemies while protecting the others. My favorite quote was when John said, "Does this mean I'll be able to shoot lasers from my hands or what?" I chose this quote because he learns how to use his powers for the first time. The author's writing style is very descriptive and clearly describes their emotions and actions. I would defiantly recommend this book to people who like suspense, action, and drama. You could really connect to this book."

" I really liked I Am Number Four when I watched it and had every intention of reading the book. Since I'm on hold for several audio books and I Am Number Four was available I decided to listen to it while at work. I made it about an hour in before I had to turn it off. The narrator isn't very engaging and the beginning of the book was seriously dragging. Maybe I'll try again one day but I need something to get me through the workday, not something that makes my workday seem even longer. "
