At a Hallowe'en party, Joyce - a hostile thirteen-year-old - boasts that she once witnessed a murder. When no one believes her, she storms off home. But within hours her body is found, still in the house, drowned in an apple-bobbing tub.

That night, Hercule Poirot is called in to find the evil presence. But first he must establish whether he is looking for a murderer or a double murderer.

" The crime centered on a 13 year old girl being drowned and was kind of intense in the story. "

" Another Christie novel that starts out promisingly only to have a really rubbish ending. Kind of struggled to get through this one - there's definitely better Poirot novels out there so I would suggest reading those instead of this one. It's one saving grace is that the book is much better than the recent TV adaptation. "

" My grandma was a big Agatha Christie fan so I picked one of her books up at random in Barnes & Noble and decided to give it a shot. It was a good story, but Christie was the Stephen King of her day. Good story, but very detailed and wordy. The book could have been cut down to 100 pages. But, I did enjoy the story since it was a mystery. "

" Good book. It's sad when a child character ies. "
