Publisher Description

It started with the murder of Kinsey Millhone's sometime drinking buddy, an insurance claims adjuster. But before long Kinsey stumbles onto a massive insurance scam. Going undercover as a wisecracking vamp, Millhone descends into the Los Angeles nether world of machismo and gang hideouts. Her companion, terrified at having crossed the violent crook Raymond Maldonado, is Bibianna Diaz -- no Girl Scout herself. As the Los Angeles Times notes, this book confirms yet again that Kinsey Millhone is "a wonderful character, tough but not brutish, resourceful and sensitive, a fit knight to walk those mean streets with her male predecessors."

"Another good Kinsey Milhone murder mystery. This one was set on the California coast, and I could almost smell the sea. Made we want to go back for a visit. Like someone else said, you never know whodunnit until she tells you. "

" The reader was good at what she does. Her voice didn't fit for me as Kinsey since this narrator seemed to be much older than our heroine. However, the narration was done well and I enjoyed. "

" This one was almost as good as "B" for me (but that one was hard to beat). Kinsey is held hostage by some thugs and has to play along with their auto insurance fraud games to survive. Lots of excitement. "
