"I thought this was one of the better Kinsey Millhone books. The story line is more complex than some of the books in this series and there is a nice parallel with Kinsey examining her beliefs about her own family while investigating her case that also has a lot to do with family and relationships."

" It's one of my favs "
— April, 9/22/2016" Grafton has a talent for coming up with a lot of different twists in plots. This one was a very good read that held to the end, which was nothing like I expected. "

— Michelle, 2/16/2014" The Kinsey Millhone mysteries are fun reads. Kinsey is a private investigator with a sense of humor. "
— Grandma, 2/12/2014" I really like her books. "
— Tasha, 2/1/2014" Enjoyable light read. Grafton adds a bit more depth to this one with the theme of family and alienation within one's own family. We get to know Kinsey a bit better here. "
— Carol, 1/30/2014" So sad - I'd caught up to the rest of the public who has to wait 1-2 years between books! "
— Suzanne, 1/19/2014" Mediocre at best. I think this is the one I read. It was a gift. "
— Renee, 1/12/2014" Liked the ending of this one. You never know ............maybe???? "
— April, 1/3/2014" I love series. I can't help it, I get sucked in. I was at my daughter's swim meet and a mom was reading V for Vendetta. Well, I knew I couldn't start there and so it started. I read A for alibi and was hooked. Kinsey is a relatable hero and even when I finally got to V- I wanted more! "

— Anne, 8/5/2013" I have been working my way thorugh Sue Grafton's A to U mysteries featuring Kinsey Millhone detective for a while and think this is one of the best I have read. I still like quirky Kinsey, and liked the plot, and characters in this novel plus we find out more about Kinsey. "
— Betty, 7/25/2013" What can I say - the reason I like this book will remain a mystery. This is the one where she finds out she has cousins and with the nicely named boat "The Lord Stanley". Read it! "
— Richard, 5/25/2013" Another one in the series where there are no mobile fones and she is sort of in love with here very elderly landlord.Charming .A quick happy read. "
— Helena, 2/2/2013" As with all of the others, I loved this one. Kinsey is such a likeable character, and the stories are so believable. I can not wait to start the next one! I worry about what will happen when she finishes the alphabet...hope she keeps Kinsey alive in other books! "
— Linda, 11/21/2012" This by far has been my least favorite of this series. It was actually kinda boring and took A LONG time for me to get through compared to the others I've read. "
— Kendra, 1/21/2012" Good story but didn't end at all the way I expected it to. I enjoyed the offshoot into Kinsey's family history and expect more on this will develop in future books. "
— Sharal, 9/7/2011" Very good book!!!!! Once again she has done it....... "
— Chris, 9/1/2011" My first Grafton book and my last. I was disappointed. In particular I didn't like the fact that she made up her locations. Seemed lazy to me rather than doing the research to find out what these places were really like. "
— Steve, 8/24/2011" this feels like a shift in direction for this series, somehow. "
— Ashley, 5/27/2011" Kinsey embarks on another interesting mystery, but my favorite part is actually about her own life and family. There are some interesting developments in this book.... "
— Marissa, 5/8/2011" Another Sue Grafton classic. I am so caught up in Kinsey's p.i. work and then her mysterious family surfaces much to her surprise. "
— Carol, 4/11/2011" Very good book!!!!! Once again she has done it....... "
— Chris, 4/7/2011" Not too crazy about this one, although I am a fan of the series...maybe she is losing her edge as she edges down the alphabet. "
— Meredith, 3/27/2011" I have been working my way thorugh Sue Grafton's A to U mysteries featuring Kinsey Millhone detective for a while and think this is one of the best I have read. I still like quirky Kinsey, and liked the plot, and characters in this novel plus we find out more about Kinsey. "
— Betty, 3/26/2011" I enjoyed reading this book but each time I put it down, I'd end up thinking about one character or another who up to something that seemed really improbable. Sometimes improbable actions tie in at the end, but not here. Still, it was a fun read, perhaps better all at one gulp. "
— Nancy, 3/4/2011" Every one of Grafton's books is my new favorite of hers. Loved J is for Judgment . . . terrific and masterful plot!<br/><br/>Ummmm . . . I wonder what she is meaning in her epilog???? Guess that I will find out as I continue into the alphabet!!! "
— Readstoomuch, 2/20/2011" Liked the ending of this one. You never know ............maybe???? "
— April, 2/13/2011" I read all the books in this series. They are nothing earth-shattering and after reading a few, you can see the formula. But I like the Kinsey character and they are easy and fun to read. "
— Thenerdmom, 12/31/2010" Audiobook- <br/>"J"ust gotta "K"eep on with this series ! "
— Angie, 12/28/2010" Yet another wonderful Sue Grafton mystery. Love to listen to Kinsey's thought processes as she solves her cases. There is also very little violence in this one so a good read for those who don't care for blood and gore. "
— Julie, 12/27/2010" Book #119 for the 2010 52 Books in 52 Week Ravelry Challenge.<br/><br/>What a great book. "
