#1 New York Times bestselling author Iris Johansen turns up the heat in this explosive new psychological thriller. This time a gifted arson investigator teams up with a mysterious operative to stop a killer raging completely out of control... For Kerry Murphy, the inferno is never far away. The flames of that long-ago night still burn in her nightmares: the heat, the choking smoke, the helplessness. She can never run fast enough... Now Kerry works as an arson investigator with her evidence-sniffing dog, Sam. Together they're a great team, but her life is about to change in the time it takes to strike a match. The deadly flames of her past are back, and from out of the ashes a stranger appears. Who is Silver? And why has he chosen her in the desparate race to find a killer determined to ignite hell on earth? Kerry and Silver may not have a chance against a psychopath as coldhearted as his method is red-hot. To save themselves and the innocent lives at stake, Kerry will have to do what she hoped she'd never have to do: fight fire with fire.

"I liked this book. I've read a couple of books by this author and I enjoy them. I didn't like the fall in love bit, but that isn't my thing. I did like that the ending wasn't totally cutesy in that a loved one of one of the main characters did die. Fast paced, well-written, kept me wanting to read more, pulled me in quick."
— Sierra (4 out of 5 stars)
" I really enjoyed this book! Strong female character and devoted doggy sidekick.....what more could you want, lol. "
— Kim, 2/20/2014" You have to admire a woman's relationship with her dog. As adorable as the dog seemed to be, the mystery of Silver his ability to leave havoc in his wake kept me reading. Again, Iris Johansen's suspense was enjoyable. "
— Jennifer, 2/13/2014" Good read. I enjoyed meeting new characters, even though I like the Eve Duncan characters better. That is probably because I have come to know them better. "
— Sue, 2/10/2014" The first book by this author that I have ever read. I didn't think it was all that great, but I'm willing to try another one by her. "
— Tom, 2/2/2014" Woman wakes up from a 2 year coma to discover she has the gift of "seeing" fire and arson. She works for another gifted man to find a serial arsonist. It's okay. Thriller adventure. "
— Kelly, 2/1/2014" Fair.... Pretty far-fetched even for this type of thriller -- wouldn't rtecommend.... "
— James, 1/29/2014" This thriller is about a female arson investigator with psychic abilities who is led by circumstances to an interesting, rather dangerous?, man with even more psychic abilities. This is a typical Iris Johansen thriller which is exciting and a lot of fun to read. "
— Donna, 1/28/2014" DNF - It became a wallbanger. "She moistened her lips." and "He/She grimaced." were used every few pages as dialogue tags and with each one I became more disillusioned (and the tale unfolded without any tension...only the typical angry heroine set against the 'hated' man that became her lover)). There was no evidence of an author review of the book or intercept by a good editor. I suppose once you reach best seller status, it doesn't matter. It did to me. "
— M.C., 1/28/2014" This is one of the books I picked for a dollar at Half Price. I just fill a basket with anything that looks interesting. "
— Amanda, 1/20/2014" This book is good! I wouldn't teach it to the entire class, but I'd recommend it to those boys who like science fiction and fantasy lit. "
— Jaclin, 1/18/2014" It's okay. The heroine is a nice change, but the story seemed to fade as it continued (or maybe it was my interest?). Any way you look at it, it wasn't too memorable. "
— Glenn, 1/11/2014" The two main charactrs have esp and mind-meld and use those abilities as they chase a firestarter. I guess I just don't care for Iris Johansen's books - not my cup of tea. The characters come across like cardboard cut-outs. It's all dialog and no development. To each his own ... "
— Salsadancer, 1/10/2014" It was a bit out there but..... "
— Jan, 12/31/2013" "Firestorm" is a good, suspenseful read. It focuses on a hard, cold killer who uses fire to destroy his victims. This book has stong characters and a very interesting concept of the working and controlling of the human mind. "
— Tammy, 12/31/2013" I did not like it very much. "
— Janiska, 12/25/2013" Not bad for a quick, cheap thrills summer read. "
— Tabitha, 12/18/2013" I didn't think I would enjoy this one, as it's not my usual type of book, but I'm glad I read it. The author's sometimes-odd sentence construction bothered me, but overall, it was a decent read. "
— Dana, 12/1/2013" Johansen writes interesting pieces but each that I've read involves a heroine and someone with extraordinary talents or skills. Still in all they are generally a decent read in the "thriller" category. "
— Charly, 11/11/2013" Weird story, more paranormal than mystery (I was expecting straight forward crime story). Not terrible but wouldn't go around recommending anyone read it. "
— Becky, 7/8/2013" Entertaining, but I couldn't read it fast enough with Stephen Kings new book sitting on my dresser. "
— Marla, 6/28/2013" Iris Johansen is an interesting author. I had read another book by her before this "
— Marti, 5/23/2013" Greatly enjoyed reading this book. First one from this author for me. Good story-just quite unbelievable which makes it good fiction. Look forward to reading more from this author. "
— Bobbie, 4/22/2013" I only gave it 3 stars because it kept me interested enough to finish it. "
— Debi, 3/2/2013" it was a great great read...i had no idea that it was gonna turn out that way it was great that they pulled in a victom of a house fire...and that no one believed her until it was to late so to speak "
— Aleshia, 9/14/2012" I've read other Iris Johansen books I've enjoyed more. I didn't get into the psychic abilities of the characters and didn't care much for the villian. I give it a weak 3 stars. "
— Cindy, 7/31/2012" See? I DO read fiction (occasionally)! "
— Laurie, 7/18/2012" Not bad at all! Great spin on pyrokinesis. Good characters, great plot line, a little weak on the ending but overall pretty great. "
— Heidi, 5/22/2012" Great book had a hard time puttin it down had me from the beginning loved the relationship between Kerry and Silver and was shocked at who killed her mom never suspected who it was "
— Season, 10/9/2011" I would have given this a 2.5 rating. Not one of Johansen's best. "
— Kristen, 5/23/2011" I was not so impressed with this book of hers. It kept me going but not like Killing game. The ending did shock me though. "
— Jackie, 2/16/2011" This is one of the books I picked for a dollar at Half Price. I just fill a basket with anything that looks interesting. "

— Wendy, 10/8/2010" "Firestorm" is a good, suspenseful read. It focuses on a hard, cold killer who uses fire to destroy his victims. This book has stong characters and a very interesting concept of the working and controlling of the human mind. "
