Lauri is a dedicated young teacher for the deaf. Her past conceals a wound still unhealed, her present is a facade, and she uses her career to hide her loneliness. Drake, daytime TV's most popular star, has two heartaches - the daughter he believes will never have a normal life and the dead wife he can't forget. Jennifer is the beautiful hearing-impaired child who may become a pawn between the man and the woman she needs the most. Now, in the heart of a New Mexico arts community, the three may become a family...but only if each one dares to find a voice and lets his or her fears and needs speak for themselves. " What a heart warming story that makes you laugh out loud. Lauri is a great teacher who helps deaf kids. Jennifer is one of her students who she adores. Her father Drake is a whole other matter, especially when he is not on tv. "

" This story has a male daytime soap opera star who keeps his private life very private. He's hiring a companion/tutor for his deaf daughter. The daughter and companion are going to live on the star's property in New Mexico. How the woman is hired and what happens when they go to Mexico makes for an interesting romance. "

" fat read, I liked it a lot. It was super romantic and really cute. The only think I didn't like was Drake's look. I don't really find moustache sexy so i always had to imagine him differently lolXD But the book was great though:D "

" This was a great quick read with likable characters and a unique plot for a straight romance. I enjoyed the relationship between Lauri and Jennifer and learning more about how deaf children are educated. It was almost more a story of the love between a "mother" and child than a man and a woman. "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Theretha Lewis Reid | 12/13/2013

" I love almost all romance stories. I did not care for the spanking, the fear of being hit and the mustache. The male lead was just too vague. "

" This was just a Harlequin in disguise. I should have known better! I picked it up because of my interest in the teacher/ deaf student plot. I was expecting more. Too much smoochy smooch between daddy and teacher and not enough story. "

" I listened up to the third CD before I had to return it to the library. It was written in the 80s and included a character who was a soap opera star so it seemed kind of dated although I would have finished if I could have. "
