Not long ago, Scott Bryant would have described himself as an ordinary guy. But one act of heroism has changed his life forever—or at least until the apocalypse occurs. Because the end of the world is on its way. Suddenly and inexplicably possessed of superhuman strength, Scott finds himself allied with the enigmatic and alluring Melanie Regan in a quest to find the mysterious Oracle in hopes of averting the absolute destruction that threatens. Melanie herself has been falling into trances, sketching terrifying visions of future events—and she wants answers. She knows better than Scott where to look for help, but even she cannot fathom the powers that have thrust them together in an epic battle of good against evil. The earth itself will soon turn against its inhabitants, and now mortal and immortal must join forces if any are to survive.

"Parts of it were slow but at the end things got a little better. I definitely want to read the rest in the series now. I need to find out who the other elements are and if they are successful in their missions to save the world. "
— Gwen (4 out of 5 stars)
" I didn't hate this book but I didn't love it very much either. The premise is 2012 is coming and the world is going to end. 12 people, one of each star sign are all that stands between mankind and destruction. Nothing original here. Only read if you can't find anything else to read "
— Yvonne, 2/17/2014" Only bad thing to say is WHEN will she continue this series!?!? "
— Laura, 2/15/2014" This book had such potential but it required that you had read her other books that deal with the Alliance. Scott has a chance meeting with an old man (whose life is he trying to save) and the old man says some things that make Scott superhuman. He meets up with Melanie while trying to use his powers for good. (Don't mean to be snide. Up through this point, the book was terrific.) It was even interesting while trying to solve the 2012 Mayan prophecy. But the relationship between Scott and Melanie didn't seem to be based on anything and the story didn't feel particularly suspenseful. Did make me want to read some of the Alliance books but I'm not sure that was the point. "
— Jodi, 2/13/2014" Interesting, heroism, vampires and the Mayan Prophecy, book 1 of 4.....you'd think it would be awesome, but it lacked something??? "
— Crystal, 2/11/2014" Never finished. I kept trying and trying and by the time my brain would wrap around one concept she was throwing something else out there. I like Heather Graham but I just couldnt finish this one, gives me a headache "
— Cheryl, 1/22/2014" While an enjoyable read, this story had a ton of characters from other series. Since I hadn't read any of the others, I felt places were incomplete or not explained. Still, it was an interesting story about saving the world. "
— Megan, 1/22/2014" LOVED this book. Still waiting for the next one. The adventure and characters make this book fly by! "
— Shaunna, 1/16/2014" New venture for this author. I want to see how she works with the Mayan Armageddon date of 2012 "
— Lin, 12/4/2013" Predicable, but refreshing after reading so many bad books. "
— Mum, 11/22/2013" Hmm, not sure what to say about this one. It's not the type of book I typically read. It did have some high points, but I probably won't read the rest of the books in the series. "
— Sherree, 10/22/2013" I liked it. Reminds me of Cotton Malone mysteries. "
— Loretta, 9/20/2013" I wanted to give it a 4, because I really enjoyed it, but the plot was not really up to Graham's capabilities, as she is really an excellent author. A lot of woo-woo which seemed to be put in just to fill up space. "
— Bob, 8/26/2013" Can not wait for the next book!!!!!! "
— Lanaont30, 7/8/2013" Couldn't stay with this one. Just not what I expected from this author. "

— Samantha, 5/4/2013" Very good. can't wait for the next one. "
— Nolena, 4/29/2013" I never connected with the characters. They seemed pretty flat. Plus, all of the Catholic overtones were just too much for this Pagan girl. It took me almost a year to finish it. I kept putting it down and forgetting to pick it back up. "
— Gori, 1/1/2013" A very straightforward good vs evil story, although a little too church-y for my tastes. "
— Jenny, 9/10/2012" I look forward to the sequels "
— Terri, 8/8/2012" Actually had a hard time reading this book until half way through it and the story line changed somewhat. Really didn't enjoy the horoscope part of it. "
— Janeene, 8/7/2012" I used to really enjoy Heather Grahams' books but the last 4 or 5 have been so predictable that I've decided to take an extended break from this author. The story line & characters (even returning "old favorites") were just bland and boring - I could not wait for this book to end! "
— Shannon, 4/5/2012" good. i thought it stood alone ok - it would probably have been a fuller experience if i knew more about the story line from other books but still ok. "
— Ruth, 3/3/2012" this book really wasn't what I was expecting and it was not as good as her other books. "
— Barbi, 10/23/2011" I really liked this book for some reason lol parts were cheesy and all but I still want to read the rest of the series... "
— Germaine, 5/21/2011" This book kind of confused me at first but I'd really love to read the other Prophecy books. Its awsomeness. "
— Cheyenne, 4/26/2011" Had to skip over a smut scene or too. However, the storyline was interesting and I want to read the next book. "
— April, 4/2/2011" Now I am in search of Book 2 in the The Prophecy series - From the Ashes. Basically if you are fascinated with 2012 prophecy ... this made be the fiction book for you. "
— Darlene, 2/5/2011" I liked it. Reminds me of Cotton Malone mysteries. "
— Loretta, 1/26/2011" Couldn't stay with this one. Just not what I expected from this author. "
— Janet, 12/23/2010" Didn't care for this writer. My first with her but too formulaic for me. "
— Bridget, 12/11/2010" There were too many "almost hints" to a bigger& /or deeper plot in the actuql plot& I didn't have patience to find out. "
— Annie, 12/7/2010" New venture for this author. I want to see how she works with the Mayan Armageddon date of 2012 "
— Lin, 8/18/2010" When a 4.0 earthquake in LA was uprooting sidewalks and breaking gas lines it kind of lost my interest. "
— Shanna, 7/28/2010" Can not wait for the next book!!!!!! "
— Lanaont30, 7/22/2010" good. i thought it stood alone ok - it would probably have been a fuller experience if i knew more about the story line from other books but still ok. "
— Ruth, 3/28/2010" Not a bad bit of fiction. Character names were a little confusing Meg & Mel in to many fast conversations in the start together. Overall, pretty good with a nice moving plot and it built right. "
— Kim, 2/21/2010" The first half of the book was very slow moving, but I really enjoyed the second half. Loved Scott but Melanie annoyed me a bit. Really liked Rainier as well. "
