A rumor has persisted in the vampire world of a dark slayer—a woman—who travels with a wolf pack and who destroys any vampire who crosses her path. Mysterious, elusive and seemingly impossible to kill, she is the one hunter who strikes terror in the hearts of the undead.
She is Ivory Malinov. Her only brethren—the wolves. Long ago betrayed by her people, abandoned by her family and cast out by everyone she held dear, Ivory has lived centuries without companionship or love. She has sustained her sanity by preparing for one mission—to destroy her greatest enemy. That is, until the night she picks up the scent of a man, her unexpected salvation. Her lifemate. The curse of all Carpathian women.
He is Razvan. Branded a criminal, detested and feared, he is a Dragonseeker from one of the greatest Carpathian lineages, yet he has been raised as its most despised enemy. Fleeing from his lifetime of imprisonment, Razvan seeks the dawn to end his terrible existence. Instead he finds his deliverance in the Dark Slayer.
In spirit, in flesh and blood, in love, and in war, Ivory and Razvan are made for each other. For as long as they dare to live.

"Absolutely loved this book. I really love Razvan and Ivory. There were parts that were so heartbreaking they made me cry. To learn of everything the both of them had suffered through was horrible. No wonder Ivory doesn't trust anyone, not even Carpathians. She was betrayed by them. Not all of them, but her brothers, the prince at the time and his eldest son. They were the most important ones in her life, not the prince's son but certainly the prince and her brothers. Granted her brothers didn't betray her until after the ultimate betrayal by the prince and his son but still. In the end they betrayed her by turning vampire. It made me cry when Nicolas saw her for the first time and realized she was alive all this time. And when Razvan saw Lara for the first time towards the end and met Skylar was a really tearful part too. He didn't know Skylar or Colby but he had known and loved Lara. Sacrificed everything for her. It was both gutwrenching and heart warming at the same time. Something I love about Christine Feehan's writing. It always brings out deep emotions.I was laughing out loud at the one part where some of the ancient hunters tried following Ivory and Razvan home after their meeting with Mikhail. It was hysterical seeing the brave warriors fighting what they thought were ghouls. Then when Gregori said he didn't want to appear foolish fighting snowmen I lost it. I couldn't contain the laughter and had people staring at me like I had 2 heads. And then for them to get caught up in the spiders' webs was almost as funny. And the whole time Gregori is just standing by watching them make fools of themselves. Awesome, completely awesome.I love how they are getting closer and closer to solving the problem with the pregnancies and baby deaths. Ivory was able to save Savannah & Gregori's twins. No one else would have been able to do it. Now that they know the root of the problem, they just have to find a way to stop it all together. Such a great series! I'm almost sad that I only have a couple more books out to read of it."
— Evil (5 out of 5 stars)
" By this point in time, the 20th book in the series the characters in the series are old friends. The books are still good, the romance is still steamy, & the wry humor is still there, but the overall plot lines are beginning to seem like all the others. "
— Lisa, 2/14/2014" Ivory and Razvan are probably my favorite couple. Good book : ) "
— Nicole, 2/13/2014" In this book, I can see Ms. Feehan has changed her way of writing, which is way different from her first few books of the Dark series. The plot goes along accordingly and the hero does not claim his lifemate until they truly have feelings for each other, unlike Dark Prince. Claiming Raven at a very abrupt moment. Razvan is truly a dark, brooding hero. But nevertheless he made me adore him, but not enough to put him as heroes that I would go crazy over... He is swoon-worthy though. :D 5 stars for the wonderful book!!! Can't wait for the next book - Dark Peril! "
— Eva-chan, 2/11/2014" This is my favorite book in the series so far. I cannot wait to see what happens next! "
— Carin, 2/10/2014" I loved the story of Ivory and Razvan! It was interesting to see some folks who weren't all about spending time with fellow Carpathians. I loved the wolves too and their personalities. "
— Barbi, 2/8/2014" I really enjoyed this entry into the Dark series. Ivory and Razvan really worked for me. I haven't read another author who can take a character you've been led to believe isn't redeemable and then make a real "hero" out of him. "
— Gamatst, 1/16/2014" I mistakenly read this out of turn (proper reading order), which I usually hate to do. Yet it was a happy mistake, way worth the ruined spoilers! As usual, another sexy addition to the Dark series! And finally a WOMAN who saves the day! "
— Lizzie, 1/11/2014" One of the best Carpathians novels in awhile. "
— Kristen, 1/2/2014" These are getting so much better as the series goes on. I really enjoy the character development in the later novels and more complex storyline. "
— Nicole, 12/5/2013" Really strong characters with a twist on the "vampire" slant "
