New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan’s Carpathian novels satisfy her fans’ deepest yearnings with an irresistible concoction of suspense, sensuality, and the supernatural.
Byron Justicano is a Carpathian—a powerful immortal who must constantly resist the temptation to indulge his dark urges and become a vampire. Since only the love of a psychic mortal woman can save him from the endless night, Byron has traveled the globe for centuries, desperately seeking a lifemate. And then, in an Italian villa, he hears the threads of enchanting music wafting through the air. Antonietta Scarletti, an astonishingly talented and passionate concert pianist, has been blind since childhood. One touch from Byron’s supernatural fingers, however, could be enough to grant her rapturous ecstasy. At long last, he has found a light to his darkness.

"Holy Cow! About 12 pages in I was ready to give up because I didn't know what a Carpathian was and wasn't so sure about the shape-shifting and blood-sucking (and no, they aren't vampires.) But wow, I'm glad I stuck with it. I don't know if I've read anything more romantic--the descriptions are incredible. There is something about the idea of being completely one with a person and in their mind that is terribly wonderful. I've read all the Drake Sisters novels to date, which is why I tried this one, but this book is written in such a different style, it would seem to be by another author. I can't wait to read the other 19 in the Dark series!"

" I really enjoy the dark series. Christine Feehan in this book really starts getting into the meat of the human (or are they human) life-mates of the Carpathian's. It is very interesting and can't wait to see where her vision takes that particular storyline. "
— Sunshine, 1/29/2018" This is the first book I read of the Dark/Carpathian series and it was so good I was hooked from the start. I immediately had to go out and get the others, starting from the beginning. The characters were interesting (Feehan did a great job creating the world of a blind woman) and the plot was a huge page turner. "
— Amber, 2/18/2014" This was cool in that it can lead to more characters and the panther people are a neat concept. I also liked that she was blind and I liked he dog in it, too. "
— Connie, 2/13/2014" I really enjoyed this book in the series. The love btw Byron and Toni was deep and heart felt. She truly fit as a lifemate to him. "
— Ivy, 2/3/2014" First of Feehan's books I've listened to on audio book. I think I like reading her books better but I liked the story. It was great to see the heroine a strong woman with powers of her own though different than Byron's. I liked that Byron was more willing to accept Toni's family and way of life over taking her away as so often happens in Feehan's books. Wish I would have liked it more but it just wasn't one of my favorite of her books. "
— Jp, 1/25/2014" Carpathians #10 "
— Amanda, 1/19/2014" A very interesting read, I liked learning the history of the jaguar people. Very good. An interesting twist and a compelling mystery as well. "
— Sarah, 12/6/2013" Listened to this on playaway audiobook and would've liked it a lot better if I'd read it instead. The narrator's voice didn't go with the story. "
— Meghan, 11/16/2013" I liked Byron and Antoinetta. It was so nice to read of a Carpathian who tried to court his woman before bedding her. "
— Marilyn, 11/4/2013" This is the first book I read from the series. I didn't even know it was a series!! But it made me fall in love & I couldn't get enough of the Carpathians. I know own & have read all of the books from the Dark Series.& a few other books by Christine Feehan. "
— Lisabeth, 10/31/2013" I couldn't finish, kept falling asleep with this one which was very disappointing since up till now I would stay up all night because I couldn't put her books down ;-) hoping to finish since I can't push myself to start the next books in the series till I do :-/ "
